Enterprise File Storage Redefined: Nasuni

thesiliconreview-andres-rodriguez-founder-ceo-nasuni-2017File data continues to grow and spread across the enterprise creating a massive file sprawl problem. Legacy technologies such as distribution, replication, WAN acceleration and storage tiering have been deployed to deal with the growth of unstructured data – with limited success and at great expense.

Nasuni delivers a secure, all-in-one data storage solution  to address these problems. It provides local performance for users, simplified and centralized management for IT, and an easily scalable, complete storage service for the global enterprise with far lower TCO and IT overhead than traditional storage.

The company provides an integrated solution to store, protect, share and access all enterprise files. Powered by UniFS®, the first cloud-native file system, Nasuni transforms enterprise file infrastructure. With unlimited scale, continuous versioning and high-performance distributed file access; Nasuni delivers the complete suite of Enterprise File Services — all at a significantly reduced cost.

Product Portfolio

Employing Nasuni Enterprise File Services, organizations transform resource constrained IT departments into strategic assets delivering uniform, efficient access to data wherever and whenever it is needed.

Nasuni Enterprise File Services

Nasuni Enterprise File Services™ is the innovative, cost-effective solution. Nasuni combines local edge appliances and cloud storage to provide global access to data with local performance and infinite scalability. In addition, Nasuni solves the added problems of protection, archive, security and management of file data storage all at a fraction of the cost of legacy solutions.

Nasuni Edge Appliance

Nasuni’s line of physical and virtual edge appliances brings cloud storage into datacenter, delivering storage, backup and offsite protection in a single appliance. Just like traditional hardware, the Nasuni Edge Appliance provides unified storage through standard protocols and access control through existing authentication systems. Unlike traditional storage, Nasuni’s next-generation storage controller never needs to be backed up or replicated and never runs out of capacity.

Nasuni Management Console

The Nasuni Management Console centralizes and simplifies control of every Edge Appliance and Volume, creating a single pane of glass for administrators. It leverages the power of cloud to deliver control over massively distributed systems without requiring point-to-point connections or in-network access. Gone are the days of products that only manage storage arrays in a single data center – NMC is capable of managing hundreds of deployments located around the world.

Nasuni Operations Center (NOC)

The nerve center of Nasuni, Nasuni Operations Center provides world-class management, monitoring and support – truly enabling Storage-as-a-Service. The Nasuni Operations Center (NOC) represents the nervous system of the Nasuni solution. It’s through the NOC that the entire network of Nasuni Edge Appliances and Cloud Storage is monitored and managed. Staffed with best engineers and 24×7 support team, the NOC ensures every aspect of the system is running at optimal performance.

In addition, the NOC is the data hub of Nasuni – collecting feedback from physical and virtual edge appliances as often as every minute – and allows the support team to identify, diagnose and resolve issues before they impact production environments. This kind of proactive support is a hallmark of the Nasuni solution and has produced unique capabilities like its Cloud-to-Cloud migrations.

Meet the Head Crew

Andres Rodriguez, Founder and CEO: As Nasuni CEO, Andres brings passion and energy to his role refining and communicating Nasuni’s strategy and technology direction. Andres was previously Founder and CEO at Archivas, creator of the first enterprise-class cloud storage system. Acquired by Hitachi Data Systems, Archivas is now the basis for the Hitachi Content Platform (HCP). After supporting the worldwide rollout of HCP as Hitachi’s CTO of File Services and seeing the Archivas team and technology successfully integrated, Andres turned his attention to his next venture, Nasuni (NAS Unified).  Delivering value-added enterprise file services on top of cloud object storage was the natural progression of Andres’ cloud storage vision.

Before founding Archivas, Andres was CTO at the New York Times, where his ideas for digital content storage, protection and access were formed. Andres has a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering and a Master of Physics degree from Boston University.

Paul Flanagan, President: Responsible for leading Nasuni’s global operations and executing the company’s go-to-market and customer success strategies, he is focused on building a world-class team of innovators whose common goal is to leverage the cloud to disrupt enterprise file storage.

Paul has a wealth of experience leading technology companies through hyper-growth periods and IPOs. As Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer at VistaPrint (now Cimpress), he saw revenue increase from $40M to more than $180M and led the company through its IPO. Still an independent company, Cimpress is valued at more than $2.5B. Paul also led storage-as-a-service pioneer StorageNetworks through its IPO, serving as COO, CFO, and President from startup to an eventual presence in 16 cities. Paul is a graduate of Bentley College.

“Our team is made up of enterprise storage veterans, security stalwarts and networking experts, all with years of experience and a shared, exacting approach to design and implementation.”
