“Our products address a real pain point and deliver real measurable tangible value to the customers.”

Dynamism of all business processes and a huge amount of information of different nature are the main characteristics of today’s business environment. They require the use of information technologies as an integral and essential part of the management strategy of companies. One modern and alternative approach to business management is the use of services based on cloud computing. The movement of the business to the cloud empowers companies to achieve significant economic benefits without investments in building their own IT infrastructure.

In light of the above-mentioned scenario, we’re thrilled to present AutonomIQ Inc.

AutonomIQ is a cloud platform that enables product and IT teams to autonomously test, release and deploy software, thereby increasing the velocity of software releases without compromising quality. With pre-built integrations to common web applications and SaaS providers, customers can instantly create test cases, generate test scripts and test data, and execute tests. Using deep-learning and AI algorithms, AutonomIQ detects changes, enables self-healing for test assets and provides advanced diagnostics. In real-world situations, AutonomIQ has been shown to provide over ~50 percent improvement in speed and quality compared to existing tools and techniques.

The company was incorporated in 2017 and is headquartered in Palo Alto, California.

Interview Excerpt: Ram Shanmugam, CEO

Q. Why was the company set up?

Personally, as software engineers, we have first-hand experienced the biggest challenges in testing. The amount of manual effort it takes to create test cases, scripts and data, and then run the tests. The adoption of agile, dev-ops and other software engineering practices has made his problem worse.

We wanted to see if we could use newer fresh approaches to addressing this problem – first to solve our own internal software engineering challenges. And when we thought we had a good solution, we felt why not make this available to a broader user community.

In some ways, it was accidental in the way we decided to start a company to solve the problem in testing. Today, we have an AI- and machine-learning-based product that allows software engineers to autonomously test their software and reduce the amount of manual effort by a significant amount.

Q. Tell us about your first product that was launched.

The first product is very focused on addressing the problem of time and efficiency of software testing. We have built and launched a product that allows software engineers to autonomously test their software with very little manual effort.

This product is available as a developer edition on Google Chrome store, and on Firefox app store. We have over ~100k developers using this edition. We also have an enterprise edition that is focused on large enterprises and we have over ~40 deployment of this edition; it’s growing fast.

Q. What is the current market scenario?

The integration of AI, Machine Learning and software engineering domain knowledge is a non-trivial problem. Our team has decades of experience in solving the hard science problems at some of the leading universities in this field.

The market for our product is quite large. Testing is a ~$35B+ problem and most of this today is delivered as a service by manual testers. We are disrupting this space using purpose-build intelligent software and seem to be making a good dent in that regard.

Q. How often do you innovate?

One of our core operating principles is continuous learning and innovation. We are never satisfied with the status quo and are continuously thinking of ways to improve our customer experience.

Internally, we have two teams – one that focuses on day-to-day operational and engineering aspects of our business, and the second one that focuses on moon-shots to change the game. The success of our moon-shot team is based on the impact of their innovations in solving customer challenges.

Q. What do you feel are the reasons behind:

  • Your product popularity: Our product addresses a real pain point and delivers real measurable tangible value to the customers
  • Your consistence growth as an organization: The interest in the user community for our product and vision continues to enable us to grow and gives us confidence in the value we provide to the users

Q. Do you have any new products ready to be rolled out into the market?

Yes, we have some interesting products that are based on the latest applications of AI techniques in the field of neural networks, learning and vision. We will be announcing some of these capabilities in the next few releases of our product.

Q. Where do you see your company a couple of years from now?

We are focused on building an organization operating system that will sustain and withstand the competitive forces, the industry shifts and macro conditions. We believe this is what is required to build a long-term sustainable world-class company.

From that perspective, we hope that we will be a world-class company in our industry in a couple of years from now.

“Our autonomous solution enables testing at a lower-cost, higher velocity, with better quality. For CIO’s that means increased capacity for development and innovation.”
