Ghislaine Nnaji, founder of Serene Baby Sleep Consulting, LLC, is on a mission to help mothers of young children to solve their babies’ sleep challenges using gentle approaches. With her background in Health Sciences, Ghislaine developed a keen interest in babies’ behaviors and how sleep plays a major role in the overall attitude or wellbeing of the baby.

Her blueprint combines superior services to her clients and extensive knowledge in pediatric sleep solutions. Ghislaine Nnaji is a certified pediatric sleep consultant, newborn care specialist and the published author of the book, “A Nurturing Approach to Baby Sleep Training: A Step-by-Step Guide for First-Time Moms”.

Ghislaine recently received an award from the Global Health & Pharma for the ‘Best Pediatric Sleep Consulting Company’ in California. With over a decade of hands on experience and 100% success rate, she understands the ins-and-outs of baby sleep training and prides herself in making sure that every family she works with achieve their baby sleeping goals without resorting to the harsh cried-it-out methods.

Serene Baby Sleep Consulting is a pediatric sleep consultation company that helps new mothers and mothers of young children (0 to 36 months old) to solve their baby’s sleep issues using gentle yet highly effective approaches. The Serene Baby methods are scientifically tested and it follows the AAP (American Academy of Pediatrics) and CDC guidelines. It’s also a member of the International Pediatric Sleep Association.

The Silicon Review reached out to Ghislaine Nnaji, and here’s what she had to say.

Interview Highlights

Q. How would you describe your professional journey so far? Tell us about a few roadblocks and learning lessons that helped you grow through the years.

I am happy and grateful for where I am today, even though the journey has not been easy. It has all been about perseverance, rethinking my tactics, and, of course, making numerous adjustments. You want to do everything in your power to assist a new mom who is fatigued, sleep-deprived, and understandably worried about the sleeping habits of her infant. Naturally, though, it's easier said than done.

Over the years, I have come to understand that in order to develop that desired baby sleep habit; you must first comprehend the mom, meet her where she is at that point in parenthood, put yourself in their position, and start from scratch. I realized that some of the most frequent barriers we must initially overcome are a mom's hesitancy, the guilt that she is not doing a good job, or the worry that anything might be wrong with her infant.

Q. Trust is one of the most important currencies of leadership that requires authenticity and consistency to maintain. What’s your take on this?

Absolutely right! Trust is very important, and in fact, the pillar to our success at Serene Baby Sleep Consulting. I consider my field of work very delicate since I work with new moms, new families who have just started their parenting journey. They are learning everything about their baby, they are adjusting to their new experience as parents, and then here comes the lack of sleep. This can turn everything up and down very quickly. And so, they need someone who can understand them, who can lift their hand without judging them, someone personable who can make them feel comfortable to share their struggles and failures, but also someone with extensive knowledge on pediatric sleep to properly and efficiently guide them. Furthermore, they need someone who is discreet and who values privacy, someone they can trust!

That said, trust is extremely valuable inside our company as well. With great communication skills, a strong team work, and the goal to deliver nothing but excellent results to every client we work with, trust becomes even vital in maintaining our great relationships with clients.

Q. As the founder of the company, what are your major roles and responsibilities?

I oversee the overall functions of the company but my main focus is on pediatric sleep consultations. I work virtually or in person with clients to establish great sleeping behaviors using gentle approaches along with many tried-and-tested scientific strategies.

Q. Can you introduce us to your services? What are their key features?

We offer a variety of baby sleep programs to accommodate all moms around the world. Some of our key features include the Tantrums No More program, which is a comprehensive guided virtual coaching program. Most babies sleep through the night by the end of this 2-week program. With our in-person services, one of our coaches joins the family at their residence to help implement the baby sleep strategies on their behalf. We work on eliminating sleep props, frequent night wakings, nap troubleshooting, early morning wakings, night weaning, sleep regression, baby schedules and wake periods, pacifier dependency and more.

Q. How do you see Serene Baby Sleep Consulting changing in five years, and how do you see yourself creating that change?

With the pandemic, we have started to reinvent how we deliver our services using a more hybrid approach. We intend to continue expanding our reach, enhancing our methods, and accommodating Non-English speaking mothers as well (we have received many requests for this).

Q. Is there anything you would like to add before we wrap up?

Every mom out there who feels like they are at their wits' end and is having trouble getting their infant to sleep through the night should know that they are not alone. You would be surprised to find out how many other mothers feel the same way. So don't be afraid to seek help. Sleep is one of the best gifts you can offer to your baby, your spouse, your household, and most importantly, to you!
