Genesis of IPI Solutions

IPI was incorporated out of a necessity to curb the ills that plagued the business technology solution industry, at a time where the norm in the industry was to focus on only sales margin and not on effective and conclusive project delivery. Founded in October 2008, it addressed the most pressing IT needs with the delivery of its professional, technology advisory, system integration, and managed services. Can you brief us about your first product that was launched?

The first product we launched was a service, i.e. Microsoft service, the technology we leveraged on by using their platform and enabled people do more with the right technology tools. We launched an efficient service delivery model that made sure that all these technology features, as offered by Microsoft is translated into practice in those organizations to address their specific needs. So we picked the features of the vast technology offered by Microsoft, configure and customize them to suit specific requirements of each business relative to the industry they operate so that they can be efficient, productive and more reliable in terms of the service delivery to their customers.

Was your first project roll on successful?

Our first project was very successful. We had about two staff then and it was a high level project involving a multi-national oil company. We were expected to deploy Microsoft System Center (as it was then known). The project took us two months to deploy System Center Management suites in a 5,000 user environment. The project was quite successful and we leveraged on this success to build a strong trust with our customer on subsequent projects.

What were the grounds on which you have expanded your company and its offerings over the years?

The cloud technology came into Africa in around 2013. At the time, IPI Solutions happened to be one of the first solution providers to embrace this technology. Although it affected our bottom-line drastically we felt like cloud is the only way, considering the fact that business is going digital. With this, we decided to focus on the cloud, explaining the features, benefits and capabilities of cloud technology to prospective buyers. It was sweet to explain but usually very difficult to adapt until around 2014/2015 when companies started adopting the cloud and IPI was lucky to be at the forefront of the people advocating for the adoption of cloud in the country. It gave us more experience in our service offering. It also gives us the opportunity to explore different solutions around the cloud space and sell it, as well as gives us the opportunity to bring in customers quickly onboard without investing a long period of project time and man hour to the service delivered.

What are the greatest attributes of IPI Solutions?

  • Competency: we are a very competent organization with skilled and highly certified people, when it comes to efficiently delivering the solution we sell.
  • We get the right result for the customer: we put result first over any other consideration when delivering solution to the customer.
  • We never give-up: we focus and make sure we give the right outcome for an organization. We patiently stay as long as it takes to get the right result for the client. We do this with great determination.
  • We are a united force in the organization: We operate a ‘militarized’ structure in our business and that gives us a chain of command that is highly efficient in information dissemination among the staff and with that we are able to have a daily unified force, common goal leading to efficient service delivery.
  • Our focus: we focus extensively on what we know how to do best. We don’t try to do everything like some organizations in the technology industry. We pick what we are good at and then keep pushing hard until we get the best out of it.

Time Ahead              

The company envisions that in a few years, it will be operating an African version of Avanade - a very strong organization with a high level of technical competency, processes, service delivery and consulting efficiency. IPI Solutions’ target is to ensure that African market can confidently compete globally and believes that this can only be achieved by bringing everybody to the cloud. It also has major products getting ready to launch later in this year.
