“Everyone who achieves success in a great venture solved each problem as they came to it. They helped themselves and they were helped through powers known and unknown to them at the time they set out on their voyage. They kept going regardless of the obstacles they met.” – W. Clement Stone

Hanover, MD based Eyewitness Surveillance needs no introduction today. As one of the first video surveillance and monitoring companies focused on the automotive industry, it is owned by both institutional and private shareholders and has expanded from its beginning in the Mid-Atlantic region to other key markets – aiming at a national footprint. Fueling this growth and expansion are the entrepreneurial management team behind this company with one of the highest client retention rates in the video surveillance and monitoring industry, Rush McCloy and RT Arnold. After taking the reins of Eyewitness in 2012, the company has seen expansive growth in product, service deliverables and revenues. With a laser focus on the metal recycling and automotive verticals, Eyewitness provides remote interactive video surveillance to commercial businesses that reduced or eliminated the need for onsite guard services. Leveraging world-class digital cameras, software analytics and perimeter intrusion technology, Eyewitness can detect targeted behavior and triggers alarms into their state-of-the-art Tactical Operations Center. Then its highly-trained Remote Security Professionals visually assess the video and situation and speak to the subject in order to prevent further unwanted actions. In addition, Eyewitness enables their clients to use the same systems and analytics to make more informed decisions around operational questions and challenges. It is easy to see how these solutions can and will save money by preventing theft, inventory damage and false claims, thanks to Eyewitness’s cutting edge systems and technology. The company is currently serving clientele on the East coast and Midwest areas and plans to expand its verticals outreach as well as geographic footprint with moves into the western regions of the US.

“We have been a leader in interactive surveillance, providing innovative and cutting-edge solutions since the industry’s inception.”

In conversation with the Entrepreneurs

Q. How advantageous is it for clients to use your services?
A. We help clients drive operational efficiencies by improving customer responsiveness, addressing false claims, auditing operational concerns and providing detailed data analysis generated by ourvideo analytics. In fact, our clients have literally saved thousands utilizing Eyewitness video audit services to address inventory damage and worker’s compensation claims. We have also specialized products to track and counter false claims in service lanes and other key areas of operation. In addition, we can set up our systems to report on customer traffic patterns and volume analysis.

Q. How do you position yourself in the current domain? How do you merge the latest technology with business objectives?
A. We focus our business on being a vertically focused integrated solution for commercial monitoring. While we develop some of our own products, our focus is not about being a proprietary technology company. Rather, we focus on integrating the most relevant technology to meet our customers’ security and operational needs through video and sensors. To that end, we have an open architecture platform, which enables us to stick to the most relevant technologies that address customers’ issues and inform them about their business. A popular saying in our office is that “the technology is about 30% of the solution, 70% is what you do with it.” We differentiate ourselves through our standard operating procedures, institutional knowledge and the talent and training of the people who use the technology each day.

Q. As business executives, what kind of challenges do you face on a daily basis? Are you able to counter them satisfactorily and focus on your journey ahead?
A. We are currently focused on building our markets with a sustainable service network platform. And while we are at it, our biggest challenge continues to be the herculean task of maintaining personal relationships with our customers as we keep strengthening our national footprint. Since we are focused on specific verticals we have maintained our position in the marketplace as experts in those industries. As a result, we have been able to meet the needs of our customers while we grow and expand because of the solid foundation this institutional knowledge provides.
