‘Alleviating RAN congestion, creating new revenue opportunities and unifying subscriber data.‘

Openwave Mobility empowers mobile operators to manage and monetize video traffic using the industry’s most scalable, Layer7 SDN/NFV platform. Openwave Mobility delivers Video Optimization, Subscriber Data Management and Targeted Ad Insertion. Together these eliminate RAN congestion, maximize value from subscriber data and create new revenue opportunities. Back at the turn of this century Openwave Mobility (then Phone.com/Unwired Planet) invented the mobile internet by creating foundational technology such as HDML and as a founder member of the WAP Forum. Openwave Mobility provides solutions for mobile data optimization, targeted promotions and management. The company was founded in 1996 and is headquartered at Redwood City, California besides having offices in the U.K., U.A.E., Japan and India.

Openwave Mobility has deployed all-IP traffic solutions with over 40 of the world’s largest service providers, and has a global presence headquartered in Silicon Valley California. Openwave Mobility is owned by Marlin Equity Partners, a leading investment firm with over two billion dollars of capital under management that has publicly committed to building the company through expanded investment in R&D. The company has built a robust portfolio of Intellectual Property, which is growing month by month.

Mobile Data Optimization Solutions

Congested networks deliver poor user experience and lead to significant impacts on the profitability; and of course now that networks are “going dark” with encrypted content, problems are magnified further.

Openwave Mobility’s Mobile Data Optimization solution helps mobile operators to simultaneously optimize both cost and quality:

-Optimizes streaming audio on the network to reduce the impact of streaming audio on the operators network

-Accelerates web pages to provide the fastest web access on the operators network

-Optimizes video to provide the best user experience on the operators network

-Delivers a hugely improved quality of experience to subscribers – quick start, smooth, no stutters.

-Intelligent monitoring of each video stream to understand the real bandwidth available in the network and use that to optimize video traffic that would have experienced stalling in the network

-Only invoked for video traffic that would be impacted and hence provides the best possible viewing experience in the network

It fits into the operator’s NFV.SDN strategy seamlessly:

-Ready to be a part of the operators NFV.SDN solution in order to promote network cost efficiency And it provides a Dashboard to understand the traffic profile and monitor optimization impact on the network.

Its Mobile Data Optimization solution builds on top of Openwave Mobility’s Integra6 all-IP Traffic Management Engine, which enables operators to rapidly adapt to changing traffic demands by means of a powerful service orchestration engine. Far beyond brute-force optimization, flexible granular rules can be created by combining multiple contextual conditions that are evaluated at line-rate speeds. The Mobile Data Optimization solution can be extended in scope by integrating with Mobile Data Monetization solution.

Mobile Data Monetization Product Offerings

Openwave Mobility’s Mobile Data Monetization solution gives subscribers the ability to control what they buy, when they buy it, and in terms they can understand. Equally it gives operators innovative new ways to engage with their subscribers and to monetize data leading to incremental revenues and reduced churn.

The solution provides new application-based price-plans such as “video as a service” and allows operators to notify its users of time critical events and notifications, empowering them to make the decision to purchase which ultimately leads to increased adoption of new services by as much as 4X and proven churn reduction

Openwave’s Mobile Data Monetization solution consists of two separate product offerings:

PPI product: Metering and Pricing: It enables carriers to price and manage data in innovative ways and in a manner that is easy for the end subscriber to understand. Introduces service oriented data pricing models.

PPI product: Promotions & Notifications: It enables carriers to drive new monetization models through targeted offers and promotions using a range of rich and contextual in line content injection techniques. Provides applications for targeted and context driven promotion of operator and 3rd party content and services while browsing. In addition, the company’s dedicated product MOTIFY provides Real-time customer engagement for time critical events and time sensitive promotions.

Subscriber Data Management

Typically, it’s tough to access your subscriber data because it’s spread across multiple databases, in different locations, and accessed using different technologies. However you can federate that data, leaving it exactly where it is, but so that every network application can access it. The siloes remain - the problem disappears.

Openwave Mobility has a proven history of delivering Subscriber Data Management cloud-based solutions to carriers in the US, Europe and Japan. We support huge subscriber bases including the largest User Data Repository (UDR) in the world. Our customers find that we bring the best combination of low TCO and high maturity - when compared with solutions from Oracle and others.
