The company was founded in 2015 with office locations in Mountain View, CA, and Binghamton, New York.

In chat with the CEO: Chris Wong

Why was the company set up? How did you select the vertical and decide to be a part of the global platform?   

In February 2015, I flew to New York to evaluate a potential technology spin off product developed by one of the nation’s leading insurance companies. The project was a “digital life organizer” that was designed with security as the leading priority in the product’s architecture. It didn’t take long for me to realize that there was an open and huge opportunity for this type of solution. I knew that with the right additional strategy and product work, funding, and of course – the right team, there was a winning solution to be developed and a company to be built, addressing a universal problem.

Fortunately, I already had previous success as an entrepreneur, but I know I can accomplish nothing alone.  So, with my two Co-founders sharing my enthusiasm, we immediately went to work to assemble a winning team, including a brilliant former IBM cybersecurity expert, an accomplished Google BD executive, and a white hat hacker whose development credits include a diverse group of Fortune 500 companies. 

Together, we created LifeSite Vault to facilitate everyday personal information sharing among trusted family members, as well as provide peace of mind for our own families. We believe in doing this for all families, around the world.   

Tell us about your first product that was launched?

As we dove headfirst into product development, we understood fundamentally that everybody’s first concern is security. The architecture of our layered security system was paramount to developing a successful product. We knew it was good, but it was important to engage outside experts to validate its industry-leading design and stability, and assuage the concerns of our potential users.

Morgan Wright, international cyber security expert, and national advisor on cyber terrorism, was one of the first cybersecurity experts with whom we shared the beta version of LifeSite Vault. He’s now an active user and an advisor to the company.

With security as our first priority, LifeSite Vault was introduced in November, 2015 combining secure file access and controlled, permission-based sharing with high-level document encryption and security. As well as our companion LifeSite Vault mobile app providing convenient, secure 24/7 access from any mobile device.

How successful was your first project roll on?

We quickly received rave reviews from cybersecurity experts and users alike on our pilot product, and LifeSite was selected as a 2016 winner of Red Herring’s Top 100 North America, a prestigious list honoring the most innovative and promising private technology ventures. With the introduction of LifeSite Vault, we began impacting the way families organize, store and share information. 

If you have to list factors that have been/are the biggest asset to your organization, what would they be and why?

LifeSiters are a diverse group with Silicon Valley drive and spirit. Our culture is rooted in listening to customers, reading the market, iterating rapidly, and relying on a strong team that trusts each other. We are here to build a sustainable company that makes a difference in the lives of families all over the world.

Are there any trigger factors/events/individuals that have played key roles in shaping your organization’s road map?

The new DOL fiduciary rule reform is one of the biggest regulatory events facing the financial industry in decades.  A deeper engagement with clients is no longer simply a good business practice; it may soon be legally required. Our introduction of LifeSite Pro is extremely timely in addressing the growing needs from technology serving the various industries affected by the increased regulations for client engagement.

Do you have any new products ready to be/getting ready to be rolled out into the market?

Recently introduced, LifeSite Pro is an innovative, secure, and collaborative document management system that is improving client interactions with professionals across a number of industries. Documenting interactions with clients is critical, and the dashboard and engagement tracking features of LifeSite Pro provide a reason to celebrate.
