Securing Collaboration between Mobile Employees and their Enterprise Ecosystem : SyncDog, Inc

thesiliconreview-jonas-gyllensvaan-ceo-syncdog-inc-2017Many organizations around the world are undergoing a mobile business transformation to achieve higher efficiencies, improve client relations, and increase business growth. With easy-to-use interfaces and the convenience to connect and collaborate with ever-increasing network bandwidth from almost anyplace, the mobile revolution has engulfed consumers and workers from all generations. However, concerns have been raised that the new mobile world is opening the door to a greater variety of security risks than established IT infrastructures are prepared to combat. Creating the right security approach is an essential precaution that can help enterprises address these threats while taking advantages of the huge benefits mobility offers.

CEO and founder Jonas Gyllensvaan realized this and established SyncDog in 2013. He had already been working in mobile technology for years and noticed growing gaps in the marketplace for mobile security. The enterprise-sized IT vendors had very little competition, and this created a monopolistic mobile security market with bullish business practices – rigid and expensive pricing structures, numerous acquisitions leading to poor or discontinued customer support, endless integration cycles, and mass-produced solutions with little focus on customer requirements that made sense. Ultimately, customers were tossed around with little alternative. He knew he could leverage his mobile technology subject matter expertise to challenge enterprise IT vendors with flexible, customer-centric solutions and service.

Collaborative mobility platform that securely manages apps and data

SyncDog’s flagship enterprise mobility security product is SentinelSecure™. This defense-grade mobile app workspace allows organizations to control and manage how employees exchange relevant, time-critical information back and forth between their devices and the organizations’ home networks. Its “containerized” mobility security partition protects organizational data both at rest and in transit by employing FIPS 140-2 certified (cert. #2687), AES 256-bit encryption with a simple software-based deployment and no impact to BYOD productivity or application functionality.

The standard configuration of SentinelSecure™ comes with a full suite of productivity applications in the secure container including SharePoint, Enterprise and Local Chat, Geo-location Services, DropBox, a Personal Information Management (PIM) suite, Office 365, Secure Mobile App Management & Development, File Sync, and many more. Applications are categorized per these four key workflows: secure communications, secure file management, secure Internet/Intranet access, and secure location-based services.

Ensuring risk mitigation for customers

SyncDog is uniquely positioned in the market to offer the most flexible solutions that deliver the most comprehensive security. It is often the case that large international software vendors build less-than-stable, high-resource consuming solutions with enormous total costs of ownership. The support and service that follows often leaves customers wanting. As an ISV, SyncDog bypasses this volatility and support deficiencies trending in the EMM/MDM market by taking a personal, hands-on approach to customer requirements and using that data to build the most relevant mobile security solutions.

First and foremost, its customers are the ones facing security and compliance issues as they chase the moving goalposts of technology. SyncDog responds to their needs, and stays in close relationship with them for road mapping that anticipates their requirements. Jonas Gyllensvaan says, “This approach to development is challenging the established enterprise vendors who move more slowly, and is putting a bug in security administrators’ and CXOs’ ears that perhaps bigger isn’t always better. This is the ISV approach, and it’s gaining traction as more value is placed on responsiveness and agility.”

Allowing better control on critical information

Recently, it has released two new products, SentinelSecure™ C2 Workspace for Healthcare Ver. 3.0. and SentinelSecure™ C2 Workspace for DoD (Department of Defense) Ver. 3.0. The SentinelSecure™ C2 Workspace for Healthcare is a containerized mobile application workspace with a HIPAA-compliant configuration for healthcare-specific mobile workflows. And the SentinelSecure™ C2 Workspace for DoD is a containerized mobile application workspace built to protect U.S. Government data and networks as they accessed from federal agents’ and contractors’ mobile devices. The functionality and application offerings for these solutions match its flagship SentinelSecure™ product.

Future endeavors

SyncDog is anticipating more customers over the next two years through both organic and partner channels. It has been steadily adding leadership resources and development infrastructure to serve its customers in the most attentive ways possible. Its development team is also continually improving the end-user experience for the most productivity and ease of use within the SentinelSecure™ container, as well as working hard to increase application offerings. Its work with a couple of mobile app development partners is giving each organization a secure environment to develop productivity applications that speak to their individual requirements. “We are also actively growing our partner ecosystem, teaming up with EMM and MDM providers to give our customers the ability to deploy SentinelSecure™ as a complement to existing mobile security investments or as a standalone EMM solution,” said CEO Jonas Gyllensvaan.
