Glimpses of origin

On January 7 2011, Subsea 7 S.A. was created as a result of a combination (merger) of Acergy S.A. and Subsea 7 Inc. The new entity took the Subsea 7 name while retaining Acergy's Luxembourg domicile and operational headquarters in London. Acergy S.A. was a ‘société anonyme holding’ incorporated in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg under the Luxembourg law of August 10, 1915 on commercial companies as amended, and quoted on both the NASDAQ Global Select Market and Oslo Børs. Acergy S.A. was incorporated in Luxembourg in 1993 and has been a publicly traded company since May 1993.

Subsea 7 was a subsea contractor operating within the oil and gas industry. It performs total subsea field developments and provides design, engineering, construction, installation and maintenance of facilities for the subsea production of oil and gas. The company was incorporated on January 10, 2002 under the name DSND Inc., and renamed Siem Offshore Inc. pursuant to a resolution of the general meeting held on July 9, 2004. It was further renamed from Siem Offshore Inc. to Subsea 7 Inc. on July 15, 2005. Subsea 7 Inc was a company incorporated in the Cayman Islands. The company was listed on the Oslo Stock Exchange in August 2005.

Know the structure of business

Subsea 7 aims to meet the needs of all its clients through an organizational structure that is sufficiently flexible to respond quickly and sensitively to local demands, whilst also leveraging the full strength of its global resources and know-how. Deliver services in all water depths worldwide

New deepwater fields rely on advances in pipeline and flowline technology to overcome challenges of high operating temperatures and pressures, enhanced pipeline life expectancies, flow assurance and the transportation of corrosive fluids. It has got a successful Pipeline Bundles product which incorporates all the structures, valve work, pipelines and controls necessary to operate a field in one single system that is pre-assembled onshore before being towed to site. The Pipeline Bundle has proved to be a successful cost-reducing solution for many field developments and has significant future potential for seabed processing. Company’s Global Pipeline Welding Development Centre in Glasgow, UK, simulates production environments and delivers pre-production welding trials and operator training.

The technologies that can alter the business scenario

Advances in autonomous vehicles, ROV tooling, and scanning and visual monitoring technologies extend field life, increase production uptime and reduce operating costs. The company has been pioneering the development of ROVs, tooling, inspection and repair technology for over 30 years. Its strong portfolio of technology solutions meets current and future challenges. Its innovation is market driven, providing relevant solutions for reducing costs in subsea field developments, and increases reliability and performance during the life of the field. Also company’s pioneering Autonomous Inspection Vehicle (AIV) underwent verification trials during 2013 and, when commercially deployed, will allow tether-free inspections of risers, pipelines and seabed equipment. In the long-term, operators may also use the AIV’s intelligent decision-making capabilities for “install and retrieve later” multivehicle campaigns, including deployment in future under-ice subsea developments.
