We specialize in the custom fabrication of stainless steel and copper aquatic vessels. Our aquatic vessels do not use harsh chemicals, making them environmentally friendly and over all, better for your health: Stephanie Bennett

Copper – a fascinating metal – was first used by man over 10,000 years ago. The metal’s significance and ability to be used and re-used has continued since that time.

While utilizing copper for spa construction is a new concept, it is an especially practical one. These copper-made spas are truly a natural beauty.

Diamond Spas, Inc. is a custom manufacturer of stainless steel and copper spas, swim spas, swimming pools, cold therapy pools, water features and luxury custom indoor and outdoor bath fixtures. Since its inception, Diamond has been shipping its custom made products all over the world. With over 37 years of fabrication experience, the company has the skills and expertise constructing some of the savviest products in the marketplace today.

Diamond Spas was incorporated in 1996 and is headquartered in Frederick, Colorado.

Stephanie Bennett, Diamond Spas, Inc President /Co-founder, spoke exclusively to The Silicon Review. Below is an excerpt.

Q. Why was the company set up? And how did you expand your company and its offerings over the years?

I was in need of a bath tub and had a hard time finding one on the market that I felt was comfortable and attractive. Tom (my husband/co-founder) offered to fabricate a stainless steel bath for me if I designed it. I did and I loved it.

We started a business 50/50 and I got to work marketing my custom designed bath. In 1999, we expanded our product line from luxury bath fixtures to fabricating pools, spas and water features. In 2000, we introduced copper into the product line.

Q. What challenges did you face in your initial years?

In 1996, there were no other companies fabricating stainless steel baths. We were the first and many in the trade were not open to the idea. Additionally, we had limited marketing funds which presented an obstacle bringing to market a product that was relatively unheard of.

Q. How successful was your first project roll on? Share the experience.

The first two years were slow. In 1999, we introduced a 42”x35” round fully skirted stainless steel Japanese soaking bath which gained attention. It caught the eye of builders, architects and designers. In 2003, our stainless steel Japanese soaking bath won Architectural Records ‘Best of Products’ for the year.

Q. What kind of responses have you received from your consumers over the years? How have they motivated you to shape your offerings/grow the company?

Diamond Spas is a custom company. We build to our clients’ specifications. Looking back in many respects, it was and still is our clients that had the visions that shaped and continues to grow Diamond Spas. We have top-notch architects, landscape architects, naval architects, custom home builders, hospitality designers and homeowners themselves that come to us with concepts of what they would like Diamond Spas to engineer and fabricate for them. Every project is different from the next. Every project presents a learning landscape for our engineers and fabricators. We become a better and a stronger company with the completion of each project.

Q. ‘Leaders cannot optimize results by themselves; they need employees’ support and assistance.’ How does your company interpret this saying?

Diamond Spas would not exist without the hard-working men and women who come here to work every day. I have said in many company meetings, that we all fill each other’s paychecks. Every job in this company is important. From reception to sales to fabrication to finishing and crating to customer service; all are vital to keep Diamond Spas moving forward.

Q. If you have to list three factors that have been/are the biggest asset to your organization, what would they be and why?

First is our clientele: Diamond Spas sells to the top one percent and has the pleasure of working with the best of the best in regards to builders, architects and interior designers. The designs and ideas that these talented professionals bring us are nothing short of visionary. The installation sites for our products are stunning. These two factors in addition to the true craftsman we have on staff that turn our vessels into functioning works of art – make our product look exquisite.

Second is our employees: Our employees deliver 110 percent every day. They are dedicated to the growth and success of the company; the talent we have is impressive. I appreciate our employees’ efforts and make a point to convey my appreciation with every pool, spa or bath leaving our facility.

Third is Internet/Social Media: When we started Diamond Spas in 1996, kitchen and bath products were only sold through showrooms. Showrooms – that were reluctant to take on such a new and different product from the norm. The Internet gave Diamond Spas the platform to reach potential buyers in all markets across the globe and sell directly to those buyers; it gave us control of the sale from start to finish which is a position I like to be in.

Q. What do you feel are the reasons behind your company’s reputation?

Diamond Spas manufactures a sophisticated luxury custom product line with unparalleled workmanship and gold star customer service. We never leave a client hanging. No matter how old the product is, we are available to answer any questions, provide new replacement equipment, aid in finding a qualified pool or spa tech, etc. Bottom line is Diamond Spas Always supports its product.

Q. Where do you see your company a couple of years from now?

Diamond Spas has seen substantial growth for the last three years. It’s my projection that Diamond Spas will continue to advance and gain market share.
