American Well: Meet the Leaders in Telehealth Services

“Perfection is not attainable, but if we chase perfection we can catch excellence”– Vince Lombardi

Established with a mission to improve access to quality care and make it more affordable and transparent for consumers by using mobile and web technology, American Well was formed by an alliance of industry veterans Drs. Ido and Roy Schoenberg.

American Well offers software, services, and access to clinical services; everything that one need to offer a complete telehealth service – whether they are a health plan, an employer, or a delivery network. Their mobile and web service connects doctors with patients for live, on-demand video visits over the internet and handles all the administration, security, and record keeping that modern healthcare requires. The American Well team works with different partners such as Health Systems, Health Plans, Employers and Retailer Partners.
Committed to deliver an outstanding consumer healthcare experience, American Well strives to reduce wait times and make access more immediate and convenient. They ensure consumers have a choice of US Board certified physicians and offer complete transparency into doctors’ backgrounds and ratings. They also promote consumer engagement by giving patients insight into and control of their health records.

Introducing American Well’s astounding creation AW9
American Well’s AW9 is a game changer as it brings care to where patients and doctors are. With multiway video, self-scheduling, new diagnostic devices and an SDK to embed telehealth into client products, AW9 enhances the experience for patients and doctors. Patients get better access to care, whereas doctors get more options for expanding care delivery.

Mobile SDK- Clients can plug in telehealth with the industry’s first mobile software development kit. Health systems can add online video doctor visits into their native mobile apps, making on-demand care a part of their consumer experience.

Multiway Video- Their multiway video solution is another industry first. It enables joint doctor appointments for more immediate team-based care of patients. Multiway video allows a patient or doctor to invite other participants, such as a specialist, family member, caregiver, or language translator, into a live, video visit.

Telemed Sidekick App- American Well’s new mobile app, Sidekick, supplements a live video consultation with images taken on the iPhone. Doctors can now easily snap and send pictures of EKGs, X-rays, patient history, and more to a specialist consulting through their Telemed Tablet.

Scheduling- They also offer on-demand and scheduled online doctor visits for mobile and web. Patients can continue to use on demand for acute care.

Insight- Insight puts information from any outside system in front of a doctor during a telehealth visit-patient history, gaps in care, and disease management checklists. With AW9, Insight extends to content that is relevant to entire populations-referral instructions, prescription guidelines, and wellness program updates go live to providers immediately.
