Deep Dive into Happy Peaks

In a ‘Happy’ conversation with the founder

Can you describe your journey towards building Happy Peaks?

Coming from a technical background, I hardly knew, about building a business, but nothing else I’ve seen offered the same exposure to make an impact as consulting, and hence I chose to begin my career in that field. And I am glad I did, the learning curve never flattened—a new role, a new industry, newer perspectives or a new function was what kept me engaged.

Gradually, I got exposure through my projects; and worked across many industries from education to telecom to pharma and retail. And after being exposed to the diversity of problems companies face, both in India as well as the U.S., I realized that the root of the problem should be treated right from the beginning, a lot of which stems from our intrinsic human nature.

So, Happy Peaks came into being as a platform to teach moral and ethics to children, but along the way, we realized that children learn best from parents. So, we pivoted into creating an online e-learning platform for parents, so that they can pass on the right message in the right way to their kids.

But, as when we started talking to parents, we realized that more than parenting tips, what they wanted was a solution to their problems on work-life balance, stress, conflicts, relationships which were affecting their daily lives, thus making them deeply unhappy, which in turn affected their work and made their families unhappier.

We also noticed a surprising thing, they still yearned for their childhood days, where none of these issues bothered them the way it bothered them today.

So we came a full-circle by taking parents back to their childhood to teach what they already knew “How to be happier” while addressing how to bring up better children with the right values.

That’s how Happy Peaks evolved along the way, and today we are proud to say that we have the most comprehensive offering in the field of “Happiness”, which addresses a number of issues affecting work and family. We understand that every individual and every company is different and hence are tailoring our solutions, so as to create maximum impact.

Shed some light on Happy Peaks service offerings?

We offer 4 different solutions:

Happy Learning: Online Courses which takes you back to the simplicity of childhood to make the most of your time.

Happy Social: A virtual world, where you meet the nicest people around, who cares for you and strives to make you successful.

Happiness Counselling: Learn about happiness, from those who understand you.

Happiness Consulting (Only for Corporates): Build a happiness culture, that makes people want to work.

Happy Peaks brings uniqueness in its thought and the way it works. Still, what is that one thing that makes you different from others in the domain?

Our service offerings!! Each of our services is customized according to our client requirements. Our solution caters to all three aspects (Prevention, Intervention and Cure) through Happy Learning, Happy Social and Happiness Counselling offerings respectively. New issues come up on a daily basis, and our integrated solution helps to resolve these issues in a very holistic way, on an ongoing basis.

Can you elaborate a bit more on the scientific research facet?

“Our approach is backed by scientific research, conducted by the most distinguished personalities in the field of happiness and positive psychology.”

Research suggests you can train their brain to be more positive and resilient by adjusting how you interpret and respond to what’s happening around you. While one can’t always change the scenarios faced in life, choosing to look and feel grateful for the good things around can help feel more engaged, motivated, happy and successful. It also appears that experiencing positive emotions – such as awe, gratitude, forgiveness, and hope – doesn’t just make feel happier, but can make more open to new ideas, better at problem solving, and are able to foster better relations with others.

And, a growing body of evidence suggests finding new ways to develop strengths – those things people are good at and enjoy doing - each day can help feel more engaged, be more productive and find a greater sense of meaning in work.

Can you give us an example of one of your services that benefit your clients?

Sure, let me give you an example about what we offer through Happy Learning:

We truly believe that whether, its children or adults, both of them learn best through stories. Storytelling is how we make meaning out of the chaos of human existence. It provides a shape, so that our own lives have a beginning, middle, and an end. And in this day and age, where we all have very short attention spans, our courses have small, simple scenarios, simple animation, interactive activities, and soulful music to get the messages across.

We have tried to touch upon various aspects such as stress, worsening health, inauthenticity, negativity, conflicts at work and family, work life imbalance, loneliness, deteriorating relationships, unhappiness and much more in a very simple way through Happy Learning.

How do you ensure ‘Happiness’ within your organization? Shed light on the culture followed within the company?

We deliberately try to focus on building the right kind of culture, right from our first hire. The culture we have tried to develop is of learning, fun, and zero office politics by hiring people who are smart, fun loving and believe in helping each other.

We also try to imbibe these values by being authentic about our successes and failures. We also seek and give a 360 degree feedback at the end of each month to know what we can and how can an employee do better.

What was the biggest challenge you & your company faced in shaping ‘Happy Peaks’?

There are no shortcuts to being happy!! Happiness is hard work, and like anything worthwhile it takes time to show results. But once enough efforts are put in, the results make the journey, worth it.

But in today’s day and age, focusing on happiness is the last thing on people’s minds. To draw an analogy, focusing on being happy is like a vitamin, which takes time to show results and going to the best of restaurants, vacations, a bigger house, are all painkillers. It shows immediate results.

Vitamins are good to have, whereas painkillers are something you need to have, but it’s difficult to make people realize that it’s the vitamins which sustain us over a longer period of time. Look at investing, whether it is in relationships or stocks, building good health or learning to be happier. It all takes time and effort.

Where do you see ‘Happy Peaks’ in a couple of years from now?

Presently, we are focused to provide optimum value to clients through our existing portfolio of products and services, though a couple of offerings are in the pipeline, which will be revealed soon.

What is the notion of ‘Happiness’ for you?

After studying and understanding happiness for quite some time, I have learnt that genuine happiness is not the lack of negative emotions. It comes from allowing ourselves to feel all that we feel, to accept ourselves and the world as it is, and then, from that as a starting point practice gratitude, kindness, and awareness that will help us grow the seed of genuine joy we all have inside. It’s a skill we can all practice, a muscle we can develop, and today all our efforts at Happy Peaks is aimed at helping you do it and have some fun while you’re at it.
