Leveraging Architecturally Appealing Solar Solutions
Solar Basics & Solar Incentives: There are two primary types of solar available today: Solar Thermal and Photovoltaic (or solar electric). When most people mention "solar power," they are referring to the photovoltaic effect. This occurs when certain materials, such as semiconductors are struck by solar irradiation from the Sun. This radiation charges these materials' electrons into a higher energy state, which generates electricity. Solar panel systems (or solar energy systems) use Photovoltaic (PV) cells to convert sunlight into Direct Current (DC) electricity. Solar cells are made from silicon are wired together in panels. A group of solar panels mounted on a frame is called a solar panel array.
New Jersey has an excellent financial environment for going solar. To make installing solar power more attractive, the federal government is providing a 26% tax credit for solar installation costs to homeowners. In addition, the New Jersey state legislature is doing its part by offering additional incentives known as New Jersey Solar Renewable Energy Certificates (SRECs). Once Green sun Energy installs your solar panels, you no longer have to worry about rising electricity prices for the portion of your electricity that comes from solar. As utility prices increase, you receive an even bigger benefit from making the switch to home solar power.
GAF Timberline Roofing Systems: How old is your roof? Are your shingles curling or missing? Is debris building up on your roof? Do you see any dark patches? These are questions you should be asking yourself when evaluating your roof, as they could be signs you need a replacement or new roof installed. You may not think about it on a daily basis, but day-in and day-out, your roof is doing quite a bit to keep you and your family safe. From protecting you from the outside elements, to keeping the rest of the structure of your home functioning properly, your roof does more for your home than any other fixture. Before they even consider installing solar on your home, Green Sun Energy inspect your roof to ensure that it has a minimum of 15 years of service life remaining. If not, they will offer to replace your roof with a new GAF Timberline® roofing system prior to installing your solar panels. Green Sun Energy Services is a GAF Certified contractor, so they can provide everything that you need to select and install the right roof for your home. Timberline® HD™ Lifetime High Definition® Shingles offer architecturally stylish but practically priced solutions to fit most residential homeowner’s budget —with a Lifetime ltd. warranty. And, after Hurricane Sandy, it’s good to know that these shingles are warranted to withstand winds up to 130 mph.
Generac Standby Generator Basics: Unlike a portable generator, a Generac standby generator operates on natural gas or liquid propane gas and sits outside just like a central air conditioning unit. The automatic standby generator is a backup electrical system that operates whether you are home or away. Within seconds of an outage, the Generac generator automatically supplies power directly to your home’s electrical circuit breaker box. After utility power returns, the generator shuts itself off and waits for the next outage. The Generac generator starts and stops automatically, and never needs refueling. Generac takes the guesswork out of sizing by offering prepackaged Guardian Series generator systems. The generator is paired with a transfer switch containing a predetermined number of circuits based on the generator’s kW power rating. Each circuit is directly connected to a matched circuit on the home’s main circuit breaker panel, providing electricity to that specific appliance or area of the home.
