On Mission to Secure Cyber-World, Minerva Labs Revolutionizes Endpoint Security Industry by Introducing Newer and More Effective Approaches

“We have just launched ‘Browser Isolation’ which is our newest module to join our threat prevention platform.”

Humans have utilized technology and have welcomed all technological advancements in order to improve the quality of lifestyle over each generation. The digital/internet age has presented mankind with the ultimate weapon – Technology. However, a sharp rise in the number of threats and attacks against technology and data can be seen in an attempt to undo progress and exploit vulnerabilities in the ever-growing digital world.

Minerva Labs is a cyber-security firm. It has successfully protected hundreds of organizations and secured millions of endpoints against potential attacks and threats.

Minerva was founded in 2014 and is based in Illinois.

Eddy Bobritsky: Interview Highlights

Could you explain the journey of Minerva Labs so far?

Coming from military cyber units, we(Erez Breiman, Omri Moyal, and myself) founded Minerva with the mission of overturning the ever-growing hacking tide that is still engulfing the cyber-world. The formidable challenge was not just to create a platform that utterly defeats cyber-attacks but also one that does so regardless of an organization’s time, team size, skills, and toolset. Through years of innovation and dedication, Minerva was successful in developing an endpoint security solution that is not just effective, but also the most resourceful and cost-effective.

How successful was your first project? Share the experience.

The first generation of our solution was narrow and based on an innovative approach. We won a number of innovation awards and were so sure that the path to success was open to us. However, the reality was a bit different. Lucky for us, we realized this pretty quick and focused on scalable products that bring value to the customer. We had tremendous help from our beta customers and design partners as they helped us shape our products in the right way.

“Earning trust and respect of consumers all around the world is through consistent focus on delivering high quality in all of our actions.” How do you interpret this statement?

The best product validation is your customers. The first challenge is to convince them to buy it. Once they’ve bought it; means that you’ve potentially helped them solve a problem. But to get a true feedback on the quality level of the product is the renewal. If the customer is willing to renew or in other words to pay again for your product or even to pay more for additional functionality – that is the greatest validation for your product quality and market fit.

How do you manage to resist/serve the needs of a highly volatile market?

We address this topic from multiple angles. First, we develop a product that we call “zero-touch”. We always want to make sure that the value is visible to the customer. Therefore, we get in touch with every Minerva customer at least once a quarter, making sure that the customer is aware of the new versions and abilities added to the product. In the case of new employees on the team, we perform quick product overviews. We constantly ask about the challenges of the customer and act as trusted advisors. If possible, we explain how our products can benefit the customer and if not, we recommend other technologies or at least provide some solutions based on our experience.

If you have to list five success factors, what would they be and why?

Team – Without people, it is simply impossible to build winning products that overcome multiple challenges.

Idea\Innovation – We cannot be successful without a dream, a goal, and an idea.

Customers Feedback and Transparency – Without feedback from customers, we would never have been able to achieve what we have today.

Failure – The path towards success is not simple and often paved with failure and suffering. But we need to push through the pain to be where we need to be. The trick is to divide everything into smaller tasks so that any failure will have limited effect and will enable quick responses towards them.

Focus – Sometimes, ideas, customers, and market trends can get you out of focus. We should always ask ourselves:“If the company had x amount of time to live – is this what I would focus on?”

Do you have any new products ready to be launched?

We have just launched ‘Browser Isolation’ which is our newest module to join our threat prevention platform. During the 4th quarter of 2020, we will be announcing the launch of a new product line that addresses zero-trust networks and cloud applications. The products will be able to protect any device that is connected to the public or private cloud assets for the entire session without installing any agents.

Where do you see your company a couple of years from now?

I see Minerva as a leading cyber-security vendor that provides devices and clouds with security for any vertical; for businesses and consumers.
