Agricen’s History

In the late 1950s, Texas farmer Bob Pedigo pioneered the original product technology, launching products with applications in plant nutrition and soil and water remediation.

In 1998, Mr. Pedigo licensed his processes, formulations and worldwide commercial rights to Agricen, and then called Advanced Microbial Solutions (AMS). Since that time, the Company has been dedicated to providing the agricultural and turf/ornamental markets with practical plant health and nutrition product technologies derived from the diverse biological and biochemical content of Mr. Pedigo’s original products.

In 2012, the Company’s commercial and R & D operations became separate sister companies and were respectively renamed Agricen and Agricen Sciences in 2013. Today, Agricen is a leader in the delivery of biochemical technologies that enhance plant health and nutrition to provide growers with the tools they need to increase productivity and sustainability, while Agricen Sciences is a research-focused entity devoted to the development of novel microbial and biochemical solutions for plant nutrition and health.

• Extract PBA: It is specifically formulated to maximize nutrient release from crop residues.
• Titan XC: It is specifically formulated for use with dry fertilizer blends.

Knowing the Key Executive

Michael Totora, President and CEO: Michael brings innovative solutions to market through pragmatic applications that drive value for growers. Under his stewardship, Agricen has emerged as a market leader in the delivery of biocatalyst technologies for efficient and sustainable plant nutrition.

Prior to his current role, Michael held positions both as senior vice president and as a chief operating officer of Advanced Microbial Solutions, shepherding the company’s commercialization efforts from 2002 to 2012. Previously, he was a management consultant at the firms ZEFER and C-Change, with clients including Microsoft, Prudential Insurance, GTE, State Farm Insurance, Bell Atlantic, Ford, Netscape, American General Insurance, and Citigroup.

Michael brings extensive strategic management experience to Agricen. He has directed teams and clients in articulating business strategies, constructing development plans and developing financial cases. He has also worked on numerous strategic projects, including mergers and acquisitions, new business spin-outs and prioritization and execution of corporate initiatives.

Michael holds a BS in ocean engineering from Florida Atlantic University, with a specialization in underwater acoustics.
