Founded in 2008, Augustine Plastics, Inc. (API) was established with a clear vision of delivering a fully integrated manufacturing solution that combines engineering expertise, precision tooling, and advanced plastic injection molding under one roof. Founded by Anthony Augustine, Founder and Chairman, and led by James Brown, President and CEO, the company was created to expand upon the long-standing tooling and machining capabilities of Augustine Die & Mold, Inc. by adding comprehensive plastic injection molding services. This strategic evolution enabled Augustine Plastics to support customers throughout the entire product lifecycle, from concept development and design optimization to tooling coordination, mold sampling, production molding, secondary operations, assembly, and long-term contract manufacturing. By integrating these capabilities within a single manufacturing ecosystem, Augustine Plastics provides customers with greater control over product quality, manufacturing efficiency, cost management, and delivery timelines while simplifying complex supply chains. Headquartered in Somerset, Pennsylvania, the company operates from a 221,000-square-foot manufacturing facility equipped to handle demanding production requirements across industries where precision, consistency, and regulatory compliance are essential. Backed by AS9100D and ISO 9001:2015 certifications, HUBZone certification, and ITAR registration, Augustine Plastics has positioned itself as a trusted manufacturing partner for organizations requiring highly reliable custom plastic injection molding and liquid injection molding solutions. Its engineering-first approach allows customers to benefit from collaborative product development, material selection expertise, design-for-manufacturability guidance, and stringent quality assurance processes that ensure every component meets exact performance specifications.

Today, Augustine Plastics serves a broad range of precision-driven industries, including aerospace and defense, medical, energy, government, water and wastewater, data processing centers, and other highly regulated sectors where product reliability cannot be compromised. The company’s success is rooted in its commitment to solving complex manufacturing challenges through technical expertise, responsive customer support, and continuous investment in advanced manufacturing technologies. Rather than functioning solely as a production supplier, Augustine Plastics works closely with customers as a long-term engineering and manufacturing partner, helping to transform innovative ideas into production-ready components while maintaining flexibility throughout evolving product requirements. Its comprehensive service portfolio extends beyond molding to include value-added secondary operations such as ink pad printing, heat staking, assembly, and finishing, allowing customers to streamline production through a single, dependable source. This vertically integrated model minimizes production risks, accelerates time to market, and ensures consistent quality from prototype development to high-volume manufacturing. By combining decades of tooling knowledge with modern injection molding capabilities and an unwavering focus on precision, Augustine Plastics continues to strengthen its reputation as a dependable contract manufacturer capable of meeting the exacting standards of mission-critical applications. As industries increasingly seek manufacturing partners that deliver both technical excellence and operational agility, Augustine Plastics remains committed to helping customers achieve long-term success through innovation, reliability, and manufacturing excellence.

In conversation with James Brown, President and CEO of Augustine Plastics, Inc.

Augustine Plastics was founded in 2008 to complement Augustine Die & Mold’s tool-building expertise, creating a true one-stop shop. How does this integrated model having mold design, build, and production under one roof build trust and reduce risk for your customers?

Our integrated model gives customers confidence because it brings mold design, tool building, mold sampling, production molding, quality control, and ongoing support together under one coordinated team. Instead of managing multiple suppliers, customers have a single accountable partner with direct control over each critical stage of the program. This improves communication, shortens response times, and creates greater consistency from concept through production. It also significantly reduces risk. If a tooling issue, design concern, or production challenge arises, our in-house team can evaluate the problem quickly, make the necessary adjustments, and keep the program moving with minimal disruption. For customers in precision-driven industries, that level of control, accountability, and responsiveness builds trust and helps protect quality, schedules, and supply continuity.

Your tagline is “For Those Who Demand Precision.” With customers ranging from the U.S. Government to Fortune 500 and Fortune Global 500 companies in Aerospace & Defense, Medical, and Energy, what does precision mean beyond technical specifications?

For us, precision means far more than holding tight tolerances or meeting technical specifications. It is a disciplined way of operating that applies to every part of the customer experience—from engineering review and material selection to tooling, production, quality documentation, communication, and delivery. Customers in aerospace and defense, medical, energy, and government markets depend on partners who understand that accuracy, consistency, and accountability are not optional; they are essential to protecting performance, safety, compliance, and supply continuity. Our tagline, “For Those Who Demand Precision,” reflects that broader commitment. It means that we approach each program with attention to detail, clear communication, verified processes, and the expectation that every requirement must be understood, documented, executed, and confirmed. Precision is not simply what we produce; it is how we think, how we communicate, and how we earn customer trust.

You hold AS9100D and ISO 9001:2015 certifications, HUBZone certification, and ITAR registration, and your quality manager has over 40 years of experience. How do these credentials and deep expertise serve as the foundation of your reputation?

Our credentials and deep expertise serve as the foundation of our reputation by demonstrating more than capability—they reflect a proven commitment to quality, reliability, and trust. In any professional relationship, reputation is earned through consistent performance, informed judgment, and the ability to deliver results with confidence and accountability.

Our experience gives clients the confidence that we understand the complexity of their needs, can anticipate challenges, and have the technical depth required to provide sound guidance and effective solutions. Credentials validate that knowledge, but it is our practical application of that expertise—through disciplined execution, clear communication, and dependable follow-through—that strengthens trust over time.

Ultimately, our reputation is built on the confidence others place in us. By combining recognized qualifications with hands-on experience and a consistent standard of excellence, we provide clients and partners with the assurance that they are working with a knowledgeable, credible, and reliable organization.

Over the past nine years alone, you have invested more than $7.8 million in new equipment, including state-of-the-art CNC machines, EDM technology, and injection molding presses ranging from 55 to 880 tons. Why is ongoing investment in technology critical to maintaining your customers’ trust?

Ongoing investment in technology is critical because our customers rely on us to remain capable, competitive, and ready for increasingly complex manufacturing requirements. Modern CNC equipment, EDM technology, and a broad range of injection molding press capacity allow us to improve precision, consistency, throughput, and responsiveness across both tooling and production. These investments are not made simply to add equipment; they are made to strengthen the customer’s experience. By continually upgrading our capabilities, we can support tighter tolerances, more demanding materials, improved cycle efficiency, greater scheduling flexibility, and more reliable long-term program performance. For customers in industries where quality, compliance, and delivery commitments are essential, investment demonstrates that we are not standing still. It shows that Augustine Plastics is committed to staying ahead of customer needs, protecting program continuity, and providing the technical strength and manufacturing capacity required to earn and maintain trust over time.

What does the future hold for your company and its customers? Are exciting things on the way?

The future for Augustine Plastics is focused on disciplined growth, continued investment, and deeper alignment with customers whose programs demand precision, reliability, and long-term manufacturing support. We see strong opportunities to expand our capabilities, strengthen our customer partnerships, and support increasingly complex applications across aerospace and defense, medical, energy, government, water/wastewater, data processing centers, and other precision-driven markets. As reshoring, supply chain resilience, and domestic manufacturing capacity become more important to U.S. companies, Augustine Plastics is well positioned to serve customers looking for a trusted manufacturing partner with integrated tooling, molding, quality, and production expertise. So yes, exciting things are ahead, but our approach remains grounded in the same principles that built the company: invest wisely, solve problems, protect quality, communicate clearly, and earn customer trust through consistent performance. Our goal is not simply to grow larger; it is to grow stronger, more capable, and more valuable to the customers who rely on us.
