“We view each client as a family and strive to attend to their needs with alacrity.”

Envaserv Research Consult (ERC) is Ghana’s premier multifunctional environmental consultancy and laboratory testing organization, providing innovative solutions and services to its clients in the oil and gas, mining, agriculture, transportation, construction, and manufacturing industries. ERC operates across the country.

The Silicon Review reached out to ERC’s Accra headquarters and spoke with Dr. Emmanuel Lamptey, founder, who serves as the company’s Chief Executive Officer. Here’s what he said.

Interview Highlights

Q. What groundbreaking and proactive methodology does ERC implement to meet its clients’ expectations?

Envaserv focuses on a unique way of doing business, which is embedded in our mission: ‘to know our clients, know their needs, and know how best to meet those needs cost-effectively'. We do this on our business fundamental principle of professionalism, quality and ethical standards, customer satisfaction, and bespoke results on schedule and budget.

We proactively engage and interact with our clients on regular basis. This gives us an unprecedented view of our customers and helps us to ensure that our services are tailored, remain relevant, and optimized for the market. We view each client as a family and strive to attend to their needs with alacrity.

Our modus operandi is an iterative one, where we come into a project cycle at the inception stage and conduct a desktop study and intensive consultations with relevant stakeholders, interested and affected parties to identify at first-hand key issues that will engage attention. The outcome is communicated to technical and economic analysis teams to assess and identify the best ways to implement projects on schedule and budget. This approach ensures a firm grasp of the most sensitive issues for resolution.

Achieving a sustainable business development goal for our clients has been our primary telos, and we thus work together with clients to come to the most ‘environmentally-friendly’ and ‘socially-acceptable’ ways of achieving project objectives. Our tools for achieving these goals are the integration of engineering, science, and planning.

We have a certified Quality Management System integrated into our operational procedures, and an accredited laboratory testing scope ensuring the provision of trusted and accurate products/results. These make our findings, results, and reports extremely reliable for critical business decisions by our clients.

We use in-house and other industrial models to carry out a huge variety of environmental assessments, planning applications, and risk evaluations, coupled with instrumentation, equipment calibrations, specialized environmental training, and other multidisciplinary scopes to ensure we meet and exceed clients’ expectations in project executions.

Q. What are your focus areas?

Our multidisciplinary one-stop-shop environmental services include environment assessments (ESIA, SEA, ESMP, PER, etc.), social consultations (RAP, community/stakeholder engagements, etc.), marine geophysical/hydrographical surveys/research (SBES, MBES, SSS, SBES, Metocean, etc.); marine geotechnical survey/research (vibrocoring, etc.); marine sediment characterization (sediment grab, macrobenthic faunistic analysis, photography, etc.); aquatic ecological studies (fisheries survey, biodiversity studies, etc.); water quality & aquatic plume modeling; air quality & emission dispersion modeling; noise quality & dispersion modeling; climate impact assessments; agriculture research and soil testing; geospatial analysis; petroleum testing and PVT analysis; facility inspection and material testing, and environmental capacity & development. As a company, we consider the environment, health and safety, and quality as key business issues, and these are factored into all our decision-making, operational procedures, and service delivery processes.

Q. Will your company be expanding, bringing on any new solutions that we should be aware of?

Envaserv plans to diversify its services/products with an additional portfolio that will provide solutions to the road sector using material testing. We further intend to incorporate civil engineering into our services in the foreseeable future to give leverage to the other services thereby cementing our one-stop-shop mantra. We also intend to have footings in other countries to serve the agricultural industry in terms of soil testing, fertilizer testing, and advisory services.

Q. How do you plan to counter challenges that you think ENVASERV might face in the next five years?

Predictable and unforeseeable challenges are inherent in any organizational operations from which Envaserv is not insulated. However, the ability for good prognosis, early prediction, and provision of the right surmountable solutions are the preferred characteristics that will make an organization robust and resilient, and on top of its game. These abilities are not in scarcity at Envaserv. The company boasts of a management team with solid experience to envision and manage VUCA situations. Envaserv is likely to face strong competition from emerging companies, but we are always ahead of our competition with strategic planning, and regular updates of our business plan to provide an early panacea to our weaknesses and threats and take advantage of opportunities and optimize our strengths. The company may face new and tighter regulatory compliance requirements from regulatory authorities in our quest to diversify our service portfolio and expand our territories for a bigger stake. Nevertheless, the company will increase and equip the compliance department with the necessary tools and right skillset to be able to deal with compliance issues. Another challenge we envisage is inadequate financial resources to accelerate our planned expansion and service diversification. The company has begun putting in place concrete measures to make it attractive in attracting financial support from banks and other financial institutions for the intended purposes.

Q. About the future, where do you see ENVASERV a couple of years from now?

I see Envaserv to be a niche player in the environmental consultancy research space beyond the shores of the sub-region in providing innovative and tailored solutions to myriad of industries in the oil & gas, mining, agriculture, transportation and manufacturing sectors. We expect to be the number one environmental solution provider and become a household name in our space. We also expect to forge a strong partnership with academia, and governmental institutions/agencies for sound collaborative environmental research.

Q. What is your final message to The Silicon Review readers, your current and future clients, and partners?

It’s been our stated goal to ensure our operations help businesses to grow sustainability, with customer satisfaction, ethical standards, professionalism, prompt service delivery, and corporate governance our guiding principles. We believe we are on the right trajectory albeit there is ample room for improvement as we navigate through the buoyant competitive market. We want readers to see Envaserv as a partner in development as reflected in our company tag, “business and nature, our care!” which means we care for the growth of your business without ignoring the environment. In other words, businesses must grow/flourish sustainably.
