Gigantic Studios Reimagines Post-Production as an Art-Forward Collaborative Experience

In the heart of Manhattan's Chelsea neighborhood, a post-production facility has redefined what it means to create sound and visual experiences for film, television, and advertising. Gigantic Studios stands apart not just through its technical capabilities but through its philosophy a belief that creative excellence flourishes in spaces that feel more like home than a sterile industrial facility. Founded in 2006 by Brian Devine, the studio has become a destination for internationally exhibited projects ranging from independent films to major streaming releases.
The studio's transformation of a historic sixth-floor space on 25th Street reflects Devine's vision: exposed structural metal and wood found throughout the floor, natural light pouring through large windows, and a warm, inviting atmosphere that sparks creativity from the moment of arrival. This design philosophy, developed in collaboration with Emmy Award-winning re-recording mixer and sound designer Tom Paul, has created a space where artists gather to respect the moving image in an art-forward community built to do so from the ground up.
As one of the top creative post-production studios of 2026, Gigantic Studios has worked on an extensive roster of features, documentaries, and series for Netflix, Hulu, HBO, Showtime, NBC, PBS, Radical Media, and many others. The studio's capabilities include two Dolby Atmos mix stages, 4K color correction, sound editorial, ADR and voice-over recording, foley, picture finishing, quality control, and screening services all delivered by a highly skilled, experienced team using the latest technologies and techniques.
The Dolby Atmos Leadership as a Revenue Driver
Gigantic Studios' most distinctive competitive advantage is its pioneering investment in Dolby Atmos technology. In 2016, the studio built the first Dolby Atmos mix stage in New York City, featuring a 16-speaker configuration with 2K DI color correction capability. The "Main Stage" features an Avid S6 console that can vanish into the floor, revealing a space that doubles as a screening room. This stage, also a DaVinci Resolve color room equipped with a Barco DP1200 projector, offers the rare capability to conduct a Dolby Atmos mix and 2K final color correction simultaneously. The studio has since added a second Dolby Atmos mix stage, positioning Gigantic Studios as the premier destination for immersive audio post-production in the New York market.
The Unique Acoustic Design as a Quality Signal
The front-of-house LCR speakers in the "Main Stage" are hand-wound prototype drivers built by Tony Grimani, co-creator of THX, who was enlisted to help build the best post-production studio in Manhattan. Many mixers work in the "Main Stage" and describe it as the best sounding room they have ever heard because of the clarity the room can bring. This acoustic excellence serves as a powerful quality signal for clients seeking the highest standard of audio post-production. For the studio, it justifies premium pricing and attracts top-tier projects.
The Integrated Service Ecosystem
Gigantic Studios offers a comprehensive range of post-production services under one roof: sound editorial, ADR and voice-over, sound mixing, foley, picture editorial, quality control, picture finishing, and screening. This integration eliminates the friction of coordinating multiple vendors and ensures consistent quality across the entire post-production workflow. For clients, this means faster turnaround and reduced administrative overhead. For the studio, it creates multiple revenue streams per project and builds long-term client relationships.
The Collaborative Community Model
Gigantic Studios was built around the belief that creative excellence requires community. Founder Brian Devine and fellow filmmaker Jonathan Gray regularly host "Salons" to gather their creative community and champion local artists. The studio's figure-8 layout ensures that every individual within the space is part of a dynamic, interconnected community where creativity knows no bounds. This collaborative model attracts top talent who seek environments that foster creative exchange and builds a loyal client base that values the studio's unique culture.
The Quality Control Specialty
In 2019, Gigantic Studios added a Quality Control suite, performing QC services for high-level clients including Showtime, AMC/IFC Films, NBC, SKY, and many independent productions. This specialty addresses a critical need in the post-production ecosystem ensuring that content meets broadcast and streaming platform standards before delivery. For clients, this means reduced risk of rejection and faster path to distribution. For the studio, quality control services generate recurring revenue from clients with ongoing delivery requirements.
The Historic Space as a Competitive Moat
Gigantic Studios occupies a historic building on 25th Street, with exposed glass and metal beams, high ceilings, wood floors, and paneling that contribute to a timelessly industrial yet cozy atmosphere. This physical space is not merely functional it is a brand asset that differentiates the studio from sterile, impersonal facilities. For clients, the space itself becomes part of the creative experience. For the studio, the unique environment creates a competitive moat that cannot be easily replicated.
