Conventional disinfection methods have existed for centuries – but are they really effective? The truth is that even with intense cleaning with bleach, disinfectants, and hot water; you can easily miss harmful bacteria and germs. If you run out of luck, those things can cause severe illness or even death in some cases. On the other hand, UV light disinfection makes use of ultraviolet solutions to eliminate bacteria and germs more quickly and efficiently, making it a great alternative to other methods. One of the greatest benefits of using UV light disinfection is that it is non-toxic. Compared to harsh chemicals often used in disinfection and cleaning products, UV lights are eco-friendly.

Globally, there are various companies delivering excellent UV light disinfection solutions, but INVZBL stands out from the rest. INVZBL delivers a portfolio of UV-C-based products and services to the education, healthcare, and other industries, spanning air purification, disinfection cabinets, and protection-as-a-service. The company’s flagship offering is INVZBL Protect Express Powered by FedEx, which provides the fastest and most affordable device repair, logistics, and disinfection on the market. It’s also about going beyond products or services to truly do good in the world, making spaces, communities, and devices safer and more productive. INVZBL continues working with its customers throughout the implementation of its products. With the company’s FedEx partnership, customers are provided state-of-the-art tracking and visibility of their devices and the process at all times.

In conversation with Chuck Morrison Founder and CEO of INVZBL

Q. What was the motivation behind starting INVZBL?

My motivation for starting INVZBL was two-fold. One, I wanted to create the world’s finest company - a place employees and customers loved and were proud of and where we did amazing work. I saw a specific gap in the Education Sector, especially for K-12, around keeping school devices working and school facilities maintaining environments. School districts have suffered from the cost, time, and inventory issues for laptop repair and maintenance for a long time. They also need to fundamentally improve how surfaces, devices, and the air are disinfected and kept clean. In trying to find a new way to solve this problem, we started researching UV-C technology, which provided us both the cost-effectiveness and, importantly, a revolutionary level of results and speed. Our tagline is “A Force for Good,” and that’s not just marketing speak. It’s what we want to be in the market.

Q. Disinfection with UV Light can be expensive. How do you maintain your affordability and profitability?

Based on the number of years in this industry and our relationships, we are fortunate to have strategic partnerships with organizations that help us maintain cost-effective design and manufacturing. We also specifically designed our products to optimize for smaller but powerful UV-C components. Finally, with the majority of our manufacturing done in the United States, we are creating economies of scale through lower transportation and supply chain costs.

Q. What are the important factors that you address while designing and developing disinfection products?

Our first consideration is the human impact - from both a user interface and how our products integrate seamlessly with the environment. We design to maximize the results while minimizing the intrusion. For example, our N-AIR UV-C air purification panels fit into a standard ceiling panel structure and are whisper quiet to operate. This design does two things: it pulls the air up and away from surfaces and people, and it ensures teachers and students

aren’t interrupted by noisy, clunky air filter units. The same is true for our disinfection cabinets that are easy to fit in a classroom, school office, or other facilities. Finally, with INVZBL Protect Express Powered by FedEx, we designed to take away the pain of device repair and maintenance.

Our second consideration is technical innovation. There are many ways you can disinfect a surface, device, or air particle; however, UV-C is easier, faster, and perhaps most importantly, toxic-free. Many other disinfectants on the market are toxic and actually harm the surfaces they are meant to disinfect.

Q. How do you train the individuals and educate them about your disinfection products?

While UV-C innovation might be complex, our products and services are not. The education part always starts with a demo of the products or an overview of the service. This is straightforward and shows them the ease of working with INVZBL. There is no need for extensive training, as we are there with the clients throughout the implementation of the air purification panels, showing them the simple ongoing maintenance of the units. For the disinfection cabinets, it’s literally plug-and-play. For INVZBL Protect Express Powered by FedEx, we can show them the tracking technology FedEx provides and walk them through the overall process. We also help them with the embedded insurance as needed.

Q. Do you have any new services ready to be launched?

We just launched our new protection-as-a-service offering INVZBL Protect Express Powered by FedEx. This service combines FedEx's world-class repair capabilities and facilities with INVZBL's UV-C high-capacity disinfection cabinets. Schools will be able to have devices picked up, transported, repaired, cleaned, disinfected, and returned all through one fully trackable, insured process. We also have new products and services we will be launching later this year and entry into a new market segment, which I can't talk about right now. You can assume we are always looking at new partnerships and offerings to serve the market.

Q. What does the future hold for your company and its customers? Are exciting things on the way?

I am incredibly excited and optimistic about the future for INVZBL, our partners, and our customers. If Covid taught us anything, it is that clean, disinfected, and safe surfaces and spaces are more critical than ever. Everyone wants to get kids back into the classroom, and INVZBL is helping make that happen. We have just scratched the surface of what we can do with UV-C disinfection innovation as well as device and building maintenance. Every time we meet with a school district superintendent or head of facilities, we walk away with new ideas on how to help them. Also, there are many other industries and markets that can benefit from our UV-C disinfection products and services. In the short term, we are more than doubling our staff and moving into new office space in Austin, TX. Our hiring will continue as we scale and reach new markets, and we are proud of our investment nationally and locally in Austin, Texas, where we are headquartered.
