The Silicon Review
Microgrids are localized grids that can disconnect from the traditional grid to operate autonomously. Because they are able to operate while the main grid is down, microgrids can strengthen grid resilience and help mitigate grid disturbances as well as function as a grid resource for faster system response and recovery. Microgrids support a flexible and efficient electric grid by enabling the integration of growing deployments of distributed energy resources such as renewables like solar. In addition, the use of local sources of energy to serve local loads helps reduce energy losses in transmission and distribution, further increasing efficiency of the electric delivery system. The Energy Department has a comprehensive portfolio of activities that focuses on the development and implementation of microgrids to further improve reliability and resiliency of the grid, help communities better prepare for future weather events, and keep the nation moving toward a clean energy future.
Scale Microgrid Solutions is the capital and energy partner you need to access more reliable, more sustainable, and more affordable power. It aligns with its customers to reach collective goals. Architecting Unique Microgrids for a Better Future
Rapid Response Modular Microgrids (R2M2): Traditionally, building a custom microgrid means that the various components are being integrated together for the first time. Scale’s menu of pre-engineered and extensively tested options produce much more accurate results. They developed R2M2 to seamlessly incorporate renewable energy, energy storage, and dispatchable generation. Its Rapid Response Modular Microgrid provides your business with ready-to-go access to the independence, resilience, and sustainability you need without having to wait years for commissioning. Its resilient, clean, and economical solution is perfectly suited for commercial and industrial facilities that need rapid deployment of a distributed generation system. Areas with a high risk of wildfires, hurricanes, and other extreme weather events benefit from the R2M2 system, because deployment times are significantly faster than a typical microgrid.
Custom Microgrids: With a custom microgrid installation, you not only have a back-up in case the grid fails, but you will enhance the way your energy functions within the grid for normal daily operation. Simultaneously delivering cost savings, resiliency, and sustainability, microgrids can reduce peak demand charges and lower your utility bill, selectively running the charging phase whenever the cheapest power is available from the grid or from onsite energy generation. Not only does this saves operational spend, but you can feel confident about tapping into a cleaner alternative to diesel generators too. It can operate by supplementing the utility grid in grid parallel mode, and it can function completely autonomously in island mode. It provides customers with cleaner, cheaper, and more stable energy.
Fleet Electrification: Scale helps power fleets with affordable, reliable, zero-carbon energy. It offers an end-to-end infrastructure solution that makes fleet electrification faster, simpler and more cost effective. The company design, finance, and integrate EV infrastructure with onsite solar, energy storage, and backup power systems. Its systems function in parallel with the utility to provide energy savings, while also giving fleets the ability to enter island mode during grid outages to provide complete reliability and resiliency. This comprehensive solution minimizes costs, streamlines deployment, and enables 24/7 mission-critical operations.
The Visionary Leader at the Helm of Scale Microgrid Solutions
Ryan Goodman is the Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Scale Microgrid Solutions. From 2011-2016, Ryan served as the President of ENER-G Rudox, Inc., a New Jersey based organization focused on developing on-site energy solutions for commercial and industrial customers. Under his leadership, the company developed several cutting edge sustainable energy projects that have received national acclaim. In addition to his operational responsibilities in North America, Ryan also sat on the Board of ENER-G’s global business. In2015, Ryan was one of 80 industry leaders invited to attend the White House Climate Change Summit, and played a key role in organizing the American Business Act on Climate Pledge. Prior to joining Rudox, Ryan worked at Boston Consulting Group and GE Energy. He holds B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Bucknell University, and received his MBA from Harvard Business School.
