Q. What was the motivation behind starting SIMPLY OAK™ USA, LLC?

To be able to provide top-quality material and top-quality service under my own leadership. I was already working within the industry, but I felt there were areas that could be improved upon, notably in service and sustainability. I wanted to provide an exceptional level of product quality and customer service -- while still honoring my responsibility to the planet and ensuring that European White Oak will be available for future generations. The best path to these goals was through forming my own company, SIMPLY OAK™. To me, European White Oak flooring is a sexy product. It’s visually beautiful and tactilely pleasing. To have it underfoot denotes luxury. In Europe, there is a deep, rich history and a love affair with European White Oak. It has a density, stability, and beauty that is superior to other woods. The finest cathedrals and ancient castles were built using this material. European White Oak flooring has always been a luxury market item, but, at the same time, it can also be warm and comforting...many modern homes have European white Oak installed, even the home I grew up in. One of my goals is to offer a greater audience the opportunity to enjoy this pleasure. A beautiful bespoke floor will enhance any home, office, or business.

Q. Can you explain about your services in brief?

As president of SIMPLY OAK™, I strive to procure the best European White Oak available and provide exceptionally detailed service to builders, designers, architects, and end-users alike. My team guides the clients through a detailed selection process that explains all the wood’s qualities and specifications, such as pattern, stain, and beveling options. We supply the finest European White Oak flooring, sustainably procured for installation in luxury residential homes and commercial projects throughout the world. We deliver only the highest quality European White Oak, sourced from landowners adhering to sustainable production practices and processed in a mill dedicated to traditional craftsmanship

Q. High-quality flooring services come with an expensive price tag. How do you maintain your affordability and profitability?

At SIMPLY OAK™, we take the time to make sure the client purchases only what is needed to complete the job, in contrast to off-the-shelf flooring. Our high-quality products are designed to last many years and even improve with time, so the customer won’t have to replace flooring repeatedly. We reduce our own expenses by storing, drying, profiling, oiling, and packaging the wood all at one location. This greatly reduces our energy and transportation costs. Also, our mill has been energy independent since 1997, when we opened a bio plant to produce power using timber waste created during the milling process. We even deliver surplus energy to thousands of private homes in the Netherlands. It’s a very elegant way not only to save money but also to protect the environment.

Q. Do you provide warranty for your service? What is the period offered?

As long as accepted methods of construction and manufacturer’s installation instructions are followed, and the material is acclimated per National Wood Flooring Association, flooring that fails structurally -- due to improper manufacturing -- will be repaired or replaced at the manufacturer’s discretion for five (5) years from the date of delivery. This warranty applies only to the original owner of the project, who will receive detailed recommendations for protecting the flooring. After receiving the product, the client should inspect the wood planks for defects in materials or workmanship. If a plank has a visible defect before installation, notify SIMPLY OAK™ immediately for further instructions.

Q. Do you have any new services ready to be launched? What does the future hold for your company and its customers? Are exciting things on the way?

We’re accustomed to being innovative and creative and understanding market trends -- even though we sell a very traditional product. We think outside the box to stay ahead of those market trends. Because we produce custom-made materials for our clients, we often have to adapt quickly to their individual needs and create one-of-a-kind products. Still, we ensure that our products and services remain top quality and sustainably produced. Our goal is to continue growing market share and launching new worldwide projects, whether they are commercial, hospitality, or residential builds. SIMPLY OAK™ has been recognized within our industry. We’ve just received a Build magazine award for “BEST LUXURY HOME OAK FLOORING COMPANY 2022,” a year after receiving their “BEST EUROPEAN WHITE OAK FLOORING SUPPLIER 2021 - USA.” award.
