Continuous technological improvements and developments in healthcare have saved countless lives and have improved the overall quality of life. Not only has technology changed experiences for patients and their families, but it has also had a huge impact on medical processes and practices of healthcare professionals.

In light of the above-mentioned scenario, we’re thrilled to present CompuGroup Medical US, Inc.

CompuGroup Medical offers a variety of ambulatory information systems to meet the needs of physician practices and clinics, FQHC’s and community health centers. These systems include CGM Clinical, an integrated electronic healthcare record-practice management solution; Enterprise PM, which helps to manage the flow and visibility of patient and financial information; Enterprise EHR, a comprehensive FQHC solution with robust templating tools; CGM webEHR, a fully web-based electronic health record system; and webPRACTICE, a web-based practice management system.

In addition, the company provides LabDAQ, a laboratory information system; LABNEXUS, a cloud-based solution to simplify the way hospital and reference laboratories share data with clients; CGM Connection, a web-based patient engagement platform; CGM eMEDIX, a full service clearing house; CGM ANALYTICS, a healthcare data aggregation and analytics software solution, and CGM PATIENT PORTAL for patients to securely access their health records, and other provider services online.

Benedikt Brueckle, CompuGroup Medical US, Inc. CEO, spoke exclusively to The Silicon Review. Below is an excerpt.

Tell us about your company?

CompuGroup Medical US is a division of CompuGroup Medical SE – one of the leading eHealth companies in the world. CompuGroup Medical US works to synchronize the systems of the healthcare industry with the mission of patient care, enabling providers to achieve the best possible outcomes for their patients.

What are the challenges your company face?

Healthcare markets today are constantly changing and evolving. We overcame this challenge by diversifying our business, thereby avoiding dependence on a single trend.

There is nothing more important for a successful small business than a well-defined mission and vision statements. Can you explain your M and V statements in brief?

Our mission is in response to one of the biggest challenges in healthcare today: developing systems with full interoperability with other systems in order to provide the best patient experience and outcome. In the past, hospitals, private practices, pharmacies, etc. have worked in silos. However, the challenges of healthcare today require a network of synchronized actors with the patient in its center.

What would you say was the single most influential factor in your business’ success?

The most influential factor is having a team that can think outside the box and thus being able to overcome any challenge along the road.

What are your future focus areas?

We are going to focus on improving our customers’ workflows and therefore their patients’ lives.

If you had one piece of advice to someone just starting out, what would it be?

A quote by Ray Kroc comes to mind –“Persistence, Persistence, Persistence” – and is the only piece of advice I would want to give to those who are just starting out.

What other leaders do you look up to, and why?

I look up to the founder and CEO of our mother company, Frank Gotthardt. In a short time span of only 30 years, he has managed to grow a small software company into the largest company (focused on e-health) in the world.

What do you hope to accomplish in the long run?

Our goal is to make sure that everyone gets access to the right information at the right time, ultimately improving patient’s lives.
