“We use the most innovative and top new robotic technology in the solutions developed, reducing the risk to become obsolete in a short time.”

Automation systems increase your production rate, efficiency with materials, product quality, flexibility and convertibility in manufacturing processes while at the same time avoid operation risks.

In light of the above-mentioned scenario, we’re thrilled to present TARGET ROBOTICS (TR) – a Mexican company with over 18 years of expertise of automated systems integrated with robots.

The company is a leader in providing turnkey solutions from concept design and simulation all the way through prototype, fabrication, assembly, installation, start-up and project management by experienced engineers in design, development, programming, installation, focused mainly on robotics solutions.

TARGET ROBOTICS was incorporated in 2001 and is headquartered in San Luis Potosí, México.

Luis Villalon, Target Robotics Founder/CEO, spoke exclusively to The Silicon Review. Below is an excerpt.

Q. What would you say are the top three skills needed to be a successful business/IT leader?

The secret to be successful in IT business is to apply all the knowledge in software and code design, into hardware applications such as scanners, printers, smartphones, cars, warehouses for e-commerce, vision systems, machinery, robots and others. Under this vision, the top three skills are high expertise in complex code design; wide knowledge about industrial manufacture process; and an exceptional level of creativity. TR has proven that, with the right algorithms, the robots can do almost everything.

Q. Can you brief us about the history of your company?

I founded TR all by myself. Since the beginning, the company policy was to focus on robotic automation versus conventional automation with PLCs. Since the first year, I have been contracting very young engineers and invest in a robotic lab to train them.

The revenue increase was more than 50 percent since the first year, and it remained constant for 18 years; even from 2009 to 2010 when the automotive industry was reeling under crisis; thanks to our sales policy. Today, the company is the oldest and biggest automation company in Mexico with 18 years of experience in robotics and more than 100 design engineers.

Q. There is nothing more important for a successful small business than a well-defined mission and vision statements. Can you explain your M&V statements in brief?

Mission: We develop innovative technology to optimize industrial processes, based on international standards of design and safety, through the automation with robots, guaranteeing to improve the quality of life of our clients and collaborators, safeguarding the sustainability of the environment.

Vision: Become the company with the best social impact, being internationally recognized as the icon of excellence in automation with robots.

Q. What are the factors that make your company stand out from the competition?

We at TR create simple and disruptive solutions, high technological, innovative content, increasing exponential productivity, obtaining immediate investment returns, based on robots’ amazing capacities. We can develop almost all industrial processes by robots, even the craziest applications, using all new technologies on the robots, advanced functions and complex programs. Compared versus the conventional machinery, we guarantee to reduce the system cost at least 50percent, but increasing the production capacity by double, at least. For every market or industry, our systems became the best-selling solutions for their exponential productivity and disruptive concepts.

Q. What would you say was the single most influential factor in your business’ success?

TR offers customized solutions with turnovers less than 1.5 years; minimal footprint; plug and play concepts; international control design compliance; international safety standards and the after sales support services 24/7, by its 12 months guarantee policy.

Q. What other leaders do you look up to, and why?

Steve Jobs for his capacity to conceptualize what the market wanted and needed.

Q. What are your future focus areas?

We are reinventing manufacturing. We believe and prove mass production theory is obsolete. Small to medium manufacturing units with robotic technology brings a better way to get the high productivity and flexibility that the new markets demand. By this clear conviction, we are confident we can transform and reinvent the food and beverage industry along with the packaging process.

Q. What do you hope to accomplish in the long run?

In the coming years, Industry 4.0 will transform the way we produce and distribute goods and services; this change will be led by the automatization. We hope to be one of the businesses that will change the world in this segment.
