Two ingenious minds, Ofer A. Lidsky and Dr. Tal Sines had a vision — a vision to create a world-wide ecosystem for genetics using blockchain technology. And to bring that vision into reality, the duo founded Digital DNAtix Ltd. in 2018.

Integrating two of the most cutting-edge technologies in the industry — Digitized DNA sequencing and blockchain - DNAtixis developing a genetic ecosystem to enable all players of genetic space to collaborate and create new solutions and possibilities for medical research. The use of blockchain technology provides consumers the ability to use their genetic information in an anonymous manner, making genetics more accessible for all. DNAtix’s genetic blockchain-based platform supports anonymous and encrypted genetic services including analysis, storage, and transfer of digitized DNA sequences, direct-to-consumer.

“The DNAtix genetics ecosystem will bring some of the brightest minds on the planet together in one place for the first time ever,” says Ofer A. Lidsky, CEO and CTO of Digital DNAtix. “And together, they will create new blockchain-based apps that will provide consumers with an array of tests and applications. This has the potential to change medicine as we know it.”

Since the inception, the company has completed some of the most groundbreaking POC’s and has transferred DNA sequences over a blockchain for the first time ever, making DNAtix one of the leading firms in the industry.

Interview Snippet with the Leaders of DNAtix, Ofer A. Lidsky (CEO and CTO) and Dr. Tal Sines (CSO):

Q. What challenges did you face in your initial years? What can your peers learn from it?

Challenges are a part of a venture. Every startup has to go through hurdles and we were no exception in our initial years. To grow DNAtix and go through the different growth stages of the company was a very big challenge for us. But, at the same time, it was also very exciting to leap over every hurdle and prove our worth in the industry.

Q. Is it true that striving for both ‘ethics’ and ‘success’ in a business is a tough feat?

I believe this is absolutely true. We are aware of companies and business people that will put ethics aside in order to succeed. However, at Digital DNAtix, we don’t compromise with that — our company is based on integrity and we do not know any other way.

Q. Trust is a difficult attribute to measure and a delicate dynamic to maintain. How do you maintain this with your clients?

For us, it is very simple yet powerful. We at DNAtix are developing a blockchain based ecosystem for genetics that enables consumers to protect their identity and perform genetic services in an anonymous way. We have transformed the trust issue into the Blockchain (which is by essence is a “Trustless System”) that is based on a consensus mechanism. Saying that, we are using the most trusted technology in order to bring trust to our clients.

Q. Are there any factors that have played key roles in shaping your organization’s roadmap?

Once we finished developing a new cutting-edge Human DNA Compression Algorithm that reaches a compression rate of up to 99%, we knew we have accomplished a major milestone in our roadmap. And this algorithm is the basis for storing Full Human DNA Sequences. I believe this is one of the most crucial factors that have given us a push to move forward and keep doing amazing things.

Q. Where do you see you and your company a couple of years from now?

Looking into the near future, we see ourselves as a major player in the genetics space.

By advancing the usage of genetics which is the pillar for personalized and preventive medicine, we expect to help many people around the world to improve the quality of their lives and to advance research in Genetics.

Recognitions

Over time, DNAtix has created a game-changing ecosystem to build new platforms for genetic testing. With a focus on development of the technology, operations infrastructure, new partnerships, and marketing initiatives, the Israel-based DNAtix has proven time and time again why it is a well-liked name in the industry and with features in some of the most popular publications.

In April 2018, DNAtix was featured in “Yahoo Finance” for conducting the first successful proof of concept for transferring DNA sequences on the blockchain. The test was a huge success and a key milestone for the company as it was believed to be the first time that any player in genetics space has successfully transferred a DNA sequence over a blockchain. The company was also featured in the “Blockchain News” for setting a new record by compressing DNA sequences to 99 percent of Original Size.

Furthermore, recently this year CEO and Co-founder Ofer Lidsky spoke to Cointelegraph about blockchain and the future of genomics. “Once your DNA has been compromised, you cannot change it. It’s not like a credit card that you can cancel and receive a new one. Your genetic code is with you for all your life and once it’s been compromised, there’s no way back,” said Ofer Lidsky during the interview.
