“As women in business in a very masculine-based industry we have had to push hard to prove ourselves and our company, this was quite challenging at times but it hasn’t stopped our growth.”

The move from 2D drawings to 3D models is well underway and gaining steam in the architectural, engineering, and construction industries, thanks to tangible bottom-line returns from streamlined workflows. Visualizing, simulating, and rendering graphic designs by creating an excellent illustration of any item or shape gives 3D Building Information Modeling (BIM) a winning edge over 2D. Stakeholders can experience what the structure will look like way before the actual construction. 3D BIM is a powerful marketing tool that not just generates pre-construction images using software, but also allows early detection and resolution of clashes. It further ensures minimal information loss and maximum collaboration between disciplines.

Yepsketch; www.yepsketch.com is the one-stop-shop for all your 3D planning needs. It is a market leader in 3DBIM and Visualization services.

Jodene Denton: Interview Highlights

Can you brief us about the history of your company?

I founded Yepsketch; the concept was derived from a job I had in the kitchen design industry. I had heard from architects about the mass demand of a centralized library that consisted of 3D models and content, from there I started developing Yepsketch. With much time and research, I understood that the library must consist of a full range of 3D and BIM files — this would set Yepsketch apart from any other library and 10 years on still sets us apart. This became a tool for specifiers (designers, builders, architects, etc.) market. As Yepsketch progressed, we started introducing other 3D services including lifestyle and product rendering, product configurators, visualizers, VR, and animations. With such growth and demand, we decided to make Yepsketch the “mother company” which saw the development and inclusion of Yeplibrary (our 3d library) and Yepstudio (our creative agency). Yepstudio has grown and developed and continues to do so which, again, sets us apart from any other 3D content agency. We create lifestyle renderings, animations, product configurators, virtual reality, and we continue to grow our services constantly.

What challenges did you face in your initial years?

As women in business in a very masculine-based industry, we have had to push hard to prove ourselves and our company, this was quite challenging at times but it hasn’t stopped our growth, if anything, it has pushed us to work harder to prove and show what we can do.

How successful was your first project roll on? Please share the experience.

We had signed clients before we launched our first website back in 2010; this came from previous business relationships founded on loyalty and trust. We are so happy that these clients are still on board with us today and have grown with us with our developments.

How did the mixed responses from your consumers over the years motivate you to shape your offerings/grow the company?

They have pushed us to enhance our existing range and pushed us to grow and develop new products that have seen significant growth internally.

“Earning trust and respect of consumers all around the world is through consistent focus on delivering high quality in all of our actions,” how do you interpret this statement?

Your clients must have trust and faith in you to deliver to their expectations. At Yepsketch, we strive to always go above and beyond for our clients, which is why we do so much travel each year. We (Rachael, General Manager of Yepsketch, and myself) do 5-8 international trips each year to see our clients face to face, check-in with them, so they continue their support and trust in us.

Fostering a culture of feedback is crucial to the success of every organization. How is this true with your company?

Completely true! All companies should listen and take on board any feedback they are given whether that is good or bad as it will allow and assist in future growth.

How do you stay relevant to the consumer interests and needs in this highly volatile market?

We are constantly, learning, growing, and advancing. We are always producing new code and developments internally which see’s us staying at the front foot of the ever-growing industry.

What are the factors that make your company stand out from the competition?

We constantly stay above the standards in 3D and design, we are forever growing our team and developing new pieces of software that are owned and developed solely in house which means that it is IP protected and can only be used by us for our clients.

Do you have any new products ready to belaunched?

We have many new products in production at the moment; one will be consumer-based which is very exciting and the other will be a completely new product in the configuration world for our clients which is very innovative.

Where do you see your company a couple of years from now?

We envision growth in all aspects of our companies. The 3D world is forever growing and developing and we hope to stay in front of the market to continue our success in this field.
