Inception of Aatrix was done in order to serve the financial needs of small businesses. The company originally developed Macintosh accounting and payroll applications. In 1998, it established a Windows® development group with a mission to develop a broad-gauge state and federal payroll reporting solution module that could be integrated with any accounting software. Today, after millions of dollars invested and armed with US Patent numbers 7,171,615 and 8,984,393. The Aatrix Electronic Forms Division is one of the USA’s premier payroll reporting specialists.
Recently, the company released Aatrix State Payroll Reports™ module for Windows. Aatrix eFiling works seamlessly with any accounting software, with over 300 certified payroll reporting forms that are completed from host data and can be printed on plain paper and mailed, or electronically filed utilizing Aatrix’s eFile Center. 97% of Aatrix’s customers recommend the solution to others; these figures prove that sky is the limit for Aatrix Software.

When you launched your first product how successful was it?
CheckWriter Pro and Hi! Finance was our first products. Launched in the 90’s, they were extremely successful, receiving Home Office Computing Editors Pick 2 years in a row, MacWorld Editors Choice, and MacUser Eddy Award nomination. Developed for Macintosh computer, we invented and used a Picture/Word icon for commands in CheckWriter Pro and Hi! Finance. The Personal Finance products won numerous awards and became a leading seller on the Macintosh market. Unfortunately, a competitor convinced Apple Computer to ship their product with Macintosh computers. The two personal finance softwares were no longer viable and we owed hundreds of thousands in startup loans, without revenue to pay them back. We were able to focus on Payroll Software which became the leader in standalone payroll software for the Macintosh. Later using our electronic forms component we became one of the leading providers of Payroll Reporting and W2s in the US.
Are there any factors that have played key roles in shaping your organization’s road map?
Yes there were!! We were a Macintosh shop in the 90’s, but when Apple decided they would no longer position the Mac as a business tool, we were forced to regroup and become a Windows Developer. We used our knowledge in payroll and began focusing on Payroll Reporting as well as W2, 1099, ACA processing, eFiling and distribution.
What led to the expansion of your company?
Along with outstanding technologies and inventions, taking complex tasks and breaking them down into easy to use and understand taskbars and processes has been the key to our success. We created Electronic Forms, filled with data, first by hand coding the forms, later with Form Design tools. Addition of other components such as a powerful FormViewer and many others has allowed us to easily replicate complex forms, fill them with data, allow the user to view, edit and eFile the forms. We license our Electronic Forms to many accounting software companies.
Do you have any new products getting ready to be rolled out into the market?
We continue to develop products featuring the flexibility and reach the cloud provides. We will be releasing several product-specific enhancements in 2017 including garnishment handling and electronic child support payments.

Mastermind behind the Masterstroke
Steven Lunseth, President and CEO: The founder of Aatrix Software, Lunseth has true entrepreneur spirit. His first job was sales at an electronics store and he soon became the manager of that store. Lunseth learnt a lot from this experience and went on to start an Ad Agency, through which he gained knowledge on marketing materials. Lunseth has a Bachelors of Science degree in Industrial Technology.
