“We recognize that to be one of the most reputable companies of the year, you first need reputable individuals. To BHW, we ensure that each BHWer exhibits the 3 C’s. We value Character and Chemistry over pure Competence.”

Behavioral Health Works, Inc. helps individuals with autism and other developmental disabilities reach their potential by working collaboratively with families, schools, and relevant professionals. By focusing on ways in which people respond to their environment (behavior), the company provides opportunities for them to learn in specific and observable ways, leading to positive outcomes (health).

BHW’s treatment approach is rooted in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) with an emphasis on individualized programs that focuses on each person’s strengths and challenges. Each BHW program shares the common goal of teaching individuals the necessary tools to obtain a better quality of life and to lead more independent lives.

BHW is a non-public agency (NPA), certified by the California Department of Education to contract with school districts and deliver ABA, speech, and occupational therapy services. BHW is also a vendor for the Regional Centers and offers behavioral intervention services to consumers in the home and community settings. Insurance is accepted for ABA, speech and occupational therapy services.

Behavioral Health Works: Together it’s Possible

When you’re with BHW, you get more than a clinical team at your front door. You also get an administrative team to support you, behind the scenes, every step of the way. The company has a friendly and smart team in its back office, along with a caring and knowledgeable clinical team that is working with your loved one using the best and the latest in clinical research. BHW has a user-friendly and robust proprietary technology platform that captures every BHW program and makes it stand out from the rest. Although, BHW services multiple regions, the firm does this as one united team with a consolidated approach and one voice; because together, it’s possible!

Let us chat with the exemplary Dr. Rob Douk, Founder, and CEO of BHW

Tell us about your first product that was launched?

We launched our first location in Orange County, California. It’s also where our HQ is stationed today.

How successful was your first project roll on? Share the experience?

I was not prepared initially for the overwhelming demand for our services. I went from a solo team to two dozen employees in just three months.

What were the grounds on which you have expanded your company and its offerings over the years?

We’ve grown organically and built our reputation based on opening locations where we’ve observed the greatest areas of need.

What can your peers learn from it?

Resources are limited in the early stages, from ages 0-3, so striking the right balance with what resources to bring on at which stage can become critical for the growth and the delivery of high-quality services.

How big is your organization today? Briefly explain the organizational structure?

BHW expects to end the 2018 year with roughly 2,000 dedicated employees. BHW is a privately-held family business with strong core values and a solid track record for premium quality service delivery. It is wholly owned and operated by the founder with no outside funding from venture capitalists or private equity firms.

‘It is difficult to start a venture. But far more difficult to maintain it’ - How would you and your team interpret this saying?

I would attribute this statement to stamina. It’s hard enough to get a venture started. But it’s even harder to maintain one that continues to grow which require new demands and obligations.

Are there any trigger factors/events/ individuals that have played key roles in shaping your organization’s roadmap?

Absolutely! Having people by your side that you trust is a necessary ingredient in the success. You cannot do it alone.

How do you and your company contribute to the global IT platform and society at large?

BHW’s success led me to develop ClinicSoft to keep up with the operational demands of a hyper-growth company. We believe that ClinicSoft is the future of practice management for the field of ABA.
