After coming from Nigeria to attend Texas A&M University, Evans had 12 successful years with one of the largest construction firms in the country, but he dreamed of owning his own business. He struck out on his own in 1993, starting Megen Construction Company in the basement of his home. From that start, and his first $350,000 project, Megen Construction has grown to over 30 construction professionals working out of offices located in Cincinnati, Ohio, managing construction projects valued at over $65 Million. Today Megen Construction Company is respected for its commitment to quality, integrity, diversity and teamwork. The award-winning firm has been involved in unique and important projects throughout the country.

One of the major reasons for starting Megen Construction, according to the founder, Evans Nwankwo, was to create an environment where professionals of all races have the freedom to fully exercise their professional expertise. This statement is not just words; it has formed one of Megen’s core values. Megen has a staff that is diverse in race, gender and academic discipline. Megen Construction is the only minority firm in the area with record-setting inclusion results. Megen have achieved significant diversity results on a number of prominent construction projects in the region. It ensures participation is always substantial and meaningful. Inclusion and diversity are not simply things we do when asked – it has always been part of the value system and part of the DNA.

Over the last few years, Megen has greatly expanded beyond the Midwest region. It has constructed projects throughout the U.S. in states including Georgia, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Missouri, Ohio, Texas and Washington. The Company is always looking to expand its horizons and deliver an encore construction experience to new clients throughout the country.

With its high-quality expertise coupled with its small firm atmosphere, Megen is able to serve clients with high-profile projects of a larger volume to those with smaller, special projects. CONSTRUCTION MANAGEMENT: Under this method, Megen Construction manages and coordinates the design and construction process for an agreed upon fee. This method is best if a client’s building needs are such that there is not adequate time to fully design, bid and then build.

DESIGN / BUILD: The design/build construction delivery method is very conducive for clients who prefer a single point of responsibility for both the design and the construction.

GENERAL CONTRACTING: This is the most traditional form of construction contracting. Megen uses a combination of its own forces and direct subcontracting to provide labor, material, equipment and supervision required to successfully complete a project after the conclusion of the design phase.

COST ESTIMATING / PRECONSTRUCTION: Megen Construction’s estimating department, led by a Certified Professional Estimator, has become the preferred stop for several architects in the region, who want accurate and reliable estimates for their projects.

PROGRAM MANAGEMENT: This hybrid construction delivery method is designed for Owners who have limited or no facilities personnel to manage their building program.

LEED & SUSTAINABILITY: Megen Construction has experience helping clients obtain efficient, sustainable design with minimum impact to the construction cost. Over the past few years, Megen has successfully completed nine LEED certified projects in the State of Ohio, and built Ohio’s first LEED Platinum building.
