Omni-ID: The Premier Manufacturer & Supplier of Industrial RFID Tags and Solutions Globally

“Established in 2007, Omni-ID is the leading supplier of UHF RFID tags and the world’s first visual tagging system – ProVIEW.”

Omni-ID began as a research and development team formed in the 1990’s within QinetiQ, an international defense and security technology company. The team was charged with exploring and challenging the boundaries of RFID. The result was a groundbreaking technological improvement — passive UHF RFID tags that provide near perfect accuracy in harsh environments, including in the presence of metals and liquids. This represented a fundamental shift in the way the RFID tags were viewed and broadly expanded the practical use applications. Omni-ID was launched as a stand-alone company focused on providing harsh environment, rugged RFID tags for industry.

Known for consistently setting industry standards, Omni-ID is the original inventor and primary patent-holder for the design of the on-metal RFID tag. In 2012, the company launched the world’s first IoT based tagging system utilizing e-paper and RFID technology – ProVIEW. The system provides a solution for the single biggest problem facing manufacturing today – material flow management. The 40 year old paper based systems still being utilized today provide the visual instruction necessary for operators, but no tracking. Utilizing RFID alone, as some manufacturers have tried provides some tracking but no visual instruction, so paper is still being used along with RFID. ProVIEW combines the best of paper (e-paper w/ visual instruction) + RFID for tracking + dynamic control. Not only can one track and instruct, the system can dynamically send instruction to re-route materials or pull products for QA immediately – no sending resources out to the floor to manually change or pull! The system also allows for operator interaction directly from the floor – so it is a two-way system, not just a pushing of information. It provides the capability for operators to react or interact to send an order, confirmation of arrival or acknowledgement of completion of a process into the system. This innovation has completely changed the RFID industry landscape and paradigm of what’s possible with Industrial IoT technologies.

Today, Omni-ID is the #1 Manufacturer and Supplier of Industrial RFID Tags and Solutions Globally.

Driving the Internet of Things
Omni-ID delivers complete IoT-based asset tracking and material flow management solutions for industry utilizing its market leading RFID and e-Paper (ProVIEW) technologies. As the global leader in manufacturing & supplying passive, active and e-paper RFID-based solutions, Omni-ID is driving the Internet of Things (IoT) revolution in IT, manufacturing and industry.

The company has the broadest product portfolio in the market– as well as being known for customization capabilities; bring it an application and Omni-ID can develop what customers need. From an embedded tag inside a golf ball, to a very small tag for medical devices to a highly rugged active tag for yard management applications, they’ve engineered products for many real-world use cases that were thought to be unadressable with RFID. Again, because Omni-ID owns the process from development all the way through to its own manufacturing facility, the company can develop and design products very rapidly -delivering customers what they need, typically at a much lower cost.

The Architect of Innovative Solutions
“We establish reliable connected environments where end to end, in-process visibility, right down to the individual asset level is now a cost-effective reality,” says George E. Daddis, Jr., President & CEO. Fortune 500 customers from around the globe utilize Omni-ID’s products for enterprise asset and material flow management. The company’s solutions drive efficiencies for customers including automation (faster process & efficiencies), documented inventories, asset tracking, maintenance alerts & documentation (for compliance), and process visibility (Big Data to drive improvements). All of these provide cost savings and greater efficiencies. “We architect complete solutions. This includes RFID tags (passive, active or visual), reader hardware and software. We develop and manufacture all of our tags as well as architect all of our solutions start to finish,” added George.

Clientele
Omni-ID’s primary markets are Manufacturing, IT Assets (datacenters, office, medical & lab assets) and Industrial Asset Management (utilities, oil & gas, construction, transportation). The company’s existing customer base comprises some of the largest automotive, energy, technology and government entities around the globe. For IT asset tracking some of the clients include Cisco, HP and NASA. For logistics and yard management; USMC and several large utilities and oil & gas companies and manufacturers like Daimler, Honda, Stanley Black & Decker, and many more.

Clients Speak
“Unlike traditional electronic tagging systems, Omni-ID’s ProVIEW Visual Tags give us the ability to not only track our materials, but control the process flows right on the factory floor in real time. The process visibility and control has created a number of efficiencies for us — not to mention the savings from the paper use.“ – Robert Hyden, Daimler Detroit’s IT Manager

“From a business perspective, the project has been a success, because we now have the ability to find and locate assets a lot faster than ever before. By site, we’ve cut our cycle-count time down from a few weeks to a few hours. Our employees like it because they can get access to devices quickly for, say, a data-center deployment.”– Maryanne Flynn, Director of Operations for Cisco

Global Footprint
The company is located globally with offices in US, UK, Germany, India and China and its products are currently being used in 67 countries on 6 continents.

The Road Ahead
Enterprise Asset Management for industry (Energy, Yard, Logistics, Tools, Medical, Lab &IT) as well as Manufacturing Solutions for material flow management are and will continue to be Omni-ID’s future focus areas.
