In conversation with the Key Executive 

Why was the company set up? How did you select the vertical and decide to be a part of the global platform?

SecureMetric was set up with the vision of becoming the leading digital security provider in ASEAN with a clear focus on our core domain expertise in the area of Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) and Authentication and Cryptography. Before this, such projects were usually monopolized by a few well established Western players. Our decision has proven to be right as SecureMetric has already earned high respect from the industry as the ASEAN homegrown ICT security company that is regionally successful.

What kind of mixed responses have you received from your consumers over the years? How have they motivated you to shape your offerings/grow the company?

Due to the fact that cyber criminals have became more organized and well funded, the demand for better cyber security solutions were also evolving. Our customers always expect us to share with them any latest cyber security threats and security incidents together with ideas to better defend against it. Such expectations in fact had motivated our company to be connected to the anti-cyber crime networks while continuing to invest on our product innovation to ensure that our solutions are always up to date with good cyber security threats prevention. 

What were the grounds on which you have expanded your company and its offerings over the years?

SecureMetric initially started more as a solo security solution provider and later evolved into a total turnkey security solution provider when we saw that more customers preferred to have a single engagement instead. Since last year, SecureMetric has already started expanding into Cloud-based Security as a Service area via SecureMetric Cloud Security Platform initiative. Next SecureMetric will further expand its security solutions with specific industry centric such as IoT and FinTech.

If you have to list five factors that have been/are the biggest asset to your organization, what would they be and why?

SecureMetric’s top five success factors are: 

People: 90% of SecureMetric’s existing staff joined us at least 5 years ago and still see SecureMetric as their long term career. SecureMetic’s most important success factor has been the team that we have who have never failed any promises that they given to our customers and/or stakeholders.

Domain Expertise:

SecureMetric has accumulated strong domain expertise in the field of PKI, Authentication and Cryptography via real project experiences.

Business Network: No sales if we do not have the right channel to offer what we do best. SecureMetric has strong business network across ASEAN which can effectively sell through. 

Marketing: SecureMetric always believed in marketing, and we invested in our own marketing team which not only manages our company A&P but also organizes our own industry centric events such as CIO Round tables and conferences. 

Shareholders: The Board of Directors in SecureMetric always have strong trust and harmony between each other and very importantly, all of them share the same vision for the company that continues from the start until today. 

How do you and your company contribute to the global IT platform and society at large?

SecureMetric is actively participating in some cyber security industry dialogues and industry centric non-profit organizations. We are a member of Fast ID Online, an industry-wide collaboration to promote secure login for internet users at large. SecureMetric used to be the Co-Host of 4th edition eID and ePassport Conference hosted in Kuala Lumpur back in 2012. SecureMetric has also founded the ASEAN Financial Industry Conference, a non-profit financial conference driven by a group of Industry volunteers. 

Do you have any new products ready to be/getting ready to be rolled out into the market?

We plan to launch our CENTAGATE Box by the end of Q1 2017; a FIPS Level 3 Certified appliance based adaptive intelligent authentication system. 

Where do you see you and your company a couple of years from now?

SecureMetric plan to list in ACE Counter in KLSE within next 2 years and if such corporate exercise successful, we will further expand our business into USA and EU market.

Meet the Master 

Edward Law, Chief Executive Officer and Co-founder: Edward has 18 years of experience in senior management and corporate marketing in ICT Industry. For 15 years, he has been in the Digital Security Industry with active involvement in the international digital security community. 

Edward graduated from Campbell University, USA with Bachelor of Science in Information System. He is the Founder of ASEAN Financial Industry Conference and the Chairman of ASIA PKI Conference, both non-profit initiative organizations run by industry volunteers worldwide. Edward is also a regularly invited speaker for many ICT security industry panels. Edward was also appointed as the Industry Advisor to Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation from 2013-2015. He is now a member of the ICT Focus Group under Ministry of Multimedia and Communication; a working group to assist the ministry to determine action plans to increase ICT export.
