Knowing the Visionary

V. K. Bhandari, Chairman and Managing Director – In the year 1985, the young and passionate Vishnu Kumar Bhandari stepped in Kolkata to study Jute Technology to fulfill his father’s dream. Soon he realized that Jute is not his cup of tea, his energetic inner mind was futuristic and he was able to foresee that Information Technology is the next in thing across the globe. It was then, he dropped the idea of Jute Technology and joined a company called Sujata Electronics for their Kolkata branch as a sales executive, and worked till 1990.

In 1991, Bhandari felt that eastern India needs a quality IT distribution house from where he can serve all major local IT dealers/resellers who requires a distribution house with a product range along with strong and efficient service and replacement support for which he opened a small proprietorship company called Supermatic Computer. At that point of time IT import rules were also liberalized and to bring world class technology product in India, he opened Supertron Electronics Ltd in the year of 1993 as a distributor and import company along with 3 energetic persons under him and an investment of 3 lakhs only.

The result of his hard work and sheer dedication is clearly visible. Today, Supertron is one of the leading IT company in India. V.K. Bhandari has very strong relationship with all IT & other fraternity of India and abroad. He is known as “VKB” to IT industry today.

One of the founding members of Computer Association of Eastern India (COMPASS), Bhandari has served as a V.P. for three years from 1994-1996 and was elected to the post of President for three years 1997-1999. His hard work and dedication again saw him being elected president of COMPASS for another three years from 2004-2006. In 2010, he won the “Life Time Achievement Award” from “COMPASS”.

Bhandari holds few portfolios such as Executive Member of TDAI, President (IT) in MCC, Executive Committee member of MAIT, Invitee Ex. Committee member of BNNCI, member of Cosmo club and Space circle club. Today name any IT hardware organization of India and overseas Supertron Electronics (P) Ltd a name to reckon with.
