thesiliconreview-mert-yentur-ceo-pitcher-17“By integrating complex solutions into a single, intuitive piece of sales enablement software, Pitcher empowers its users to be more productive and more profitable.”

“We work by integrating and enhancing the complex solutions you need to collect and disseminate product knowledge, manage relationships, and sharpen communication skills.”

With properly executed mobile sales enablement strategies, a marketing professional can get really close to his customers. With this newly released digital power in their hands, brands and industries can create better consumer engagements, and transform their businesses to have a much brighter future.

It is not difficult to determine if your business actually requires a digital sales strategy, and it certainly allows marketers to get much closer to their target customers. The growing popularity of high end mobile devices has turned mobile into a new marketing and promotional platform. By always having relevant information on-hand, a sales team is well prepared and equipped to deal with prospective clients, and interact with them in a more profitable way.

With these developments in mind, Pitcher was launched in 2011, providing an end-to-end mobile sales enablement platform that empowers your employees to fully engage your customers and prospects. Our vision is to revolutionize the way organizations effectively market and sell, with out-of-the-box mobile modules that will transform your sales process.

By seamlessly connecting to a number of CRM & ERP systems, and making this data available in the field, Pitcher gives your sales teams the capability to be truly mobile, and to operate in real-time with the information that matters most. Since 2010, Pitcher has been built from the ground-up by a team of dedicated technology and marketing experts who are on the forefront of digital sales and marketing customer experiences. With successful global roll-outs in more than 130 countries, and more than 50 customers worldwide (with market-leaders such as Nespresso, Pfizer, and Volkswagen), our team has the expertise to support you with a rapid roll-out and activation that’s tailored to your unique needs.

A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step

Before Pitcher, Mert (CEO/Founder) was running a mobile software development agency, servicing clients like Warner Brothers, Lindt, and MediaMarkt. Once he realized the individual one off mobile rep app requests coming from large corporations, from several verticals (Life Sciences, Financial Services, Manufacturing) about field operations, he knew this could be combined into a true SaaS offering, and he founded Pitcher and started the global journey.

A narrative on Pharma experience

Our earliest adopter was Pharma. The typical Pharma sales rep has only a quick 3-5 minute interaction with physicians to convince them of the benefits of their products. They provided us with the perfect fertile ground for a turnkey Closed Loop Marketing / Sales Enablement product like Pitcher.

“During the initial phase we had 2 mottos. 1- Don’t reinvent the wheel, 2- Don’t sell the wheel. So, instead of setting our own Cloud infrastructure, we’ve selected AWS (which was also in its infancy) as our cloud provider.

Second, instead of selling CRM, ERP or Marketing Agency services, we focused on the most impactful side of the interaction, the face-to-face interaction application. We have set up alliances with CRM providers like Salesforce.com, Microsoft and Oracle, also with SIs and Marketing Agencies.”

Tour de force!

Once the firm had clearly identified what it did and did not want to do, the project roll out on 11/11/11 was very smooth, thanks to their proven partners. Initially, Pitcher specialized in the Life Sciences industry as a Closed Loop Marketing / eDetailing Platform. This tight focus brought rapid expansion in the vertical and brand building.

From there, in 2016, it expanded to 3 additional verticals, namely Manufacturing, CPG and Financial Services. In terms of Product Offering it has also expanded its portfolio from just “show & tell” to shelf audits, questionnaires, remote presentations, performance analysis and coaching, and many more to cover at least 80% in the day of a life of a rep in those 4 key verticals.

Pitcher’s forte

  • Our strong focus on our users (field users) vs. our buyers/decision makers
  • Open communication to customers — we are known to under promise, and over deliver
  • Our team — we have a great company culture where we are working from across the globe as a single unit
  • Our dedication to innovation and always improving the product
  • Our product, always scalable and ready

Customers are king!

Customer feedback and prospect questions are the two main factors that has been shaping Pitcher’s portfolio and roadmap. It takes every question where the current answer is “no” as a potential enhancement request, and it works very closely with its users/reps to identify any potential improvements.

Bane of one’s life

Our biggest challenge was staying focused. As a B2B software vendor, it can be very tempting to say “yes” to customization projects where requirements are out of your core product offering, especially where the customer logo and customer budget are very inviting. Looking back, I can almost say that the best projects we did were the projects we passed, as they can drain time and manpower, which would come at a cost of company expansion.
