Microsoft will shut down all retail storefronts and continue serving its customers online
The Silicon Review
29 June, 2020

Recently Microsoft made an announcement regarding its strategic change for the retail operations; this also includes the closing of physical locations. The company’s retail teams will provide their services from the corporate facilities and remotely provide support, sales, and training. The company made a statement that it will continue its investment in the digital storefront. It is also looking forward to serving more than 1.2 billion people each month spanning across 190 markets. Microsoft will now revamp the Microsoft Experience Centers in Sydney, Redmond campus, and NYC. David Porter, Corporate VP of Microsoft, stated that the company’s presence online has evolved, and most of the offerings being digital, their teams are quite successful in serving customers, online as well as the physical location.

The VP also expressed his gratitude to the customers, and he furthermore stated that their teams are looking forward to serving the customers online. The store locations of Microsoft stopped operations in March, and since then, their retail teams have served small businesses. The team has conducted almost 14,000 online workshops for online communities, and more than 3000 graduations were held. The team is very diverse in their skillsets, and the evolution of the workforce has allowed Microsoft to continue to serve its customers.
