30 Fabulous Companies of the Year 2022
The Silicon Review
"The photography industry (and the image industry) still needs pioneers in technology to create the future of images, and Meero is leading from the front."
We have all heard that a picture is worth a thousand words. This has never been truer before – with the beginning of digital photography and ever since mobile phones started dominating our lives. Images are replacing words.
With the emergence of online shopping, brands today desperately need images because it's their best tool to drive sales. Today, 93% of consumers say that visuals are the #1 deciding factor in their buying act. It's nearly pointless to try selling anything online without a photo.
However, the processes and means to produce photos have not evolved for years. For food delivery or travel marketplaces with thousands of restaurants and listings, organizing daily photo shoots all over the world with consistent guidelines combined with the right look and feel is a real challenge. Paradoxically, it can be challenging for image creators like photographers to build a network of clients, receive clear briefs, and get paid. In short, the intersection of supply and demand can be random and even chaotic.
Solutions facilitating the production of images are reshaping the global photography landscape, and so is Paris-headquartered Meero, with its suite of solutions and tools for photographers and brands.
Meero's journey began in 2016 when its founder and CEO, Thomas Rebaud, decided to take on the challenge of caring for everything that interferes with a photographer's creative process: from prospecting, billing, sorting, post-production, to delivery.
Today, Meero collaborates with over 100,000 photographers worldwide, providing them with the opportunity to create beautiful images for more than 31,000 brands worldwide. The company offers them regular engagements, inspiring content and monthly meetups. Meero unites them through the largest community of creatives around the world.
"But Meero does more than that; it also simplifies the work of creative departments in many companies by offering its platforms and AI solutions to online businesses that need to handle large volumes of visual content," said Thomas Rebaud, founder and CEO of Meero. "While producing and managing that volume of images certainly isn't easy, doing it well and on-brand is an almost herculean task. Our team and AI tool suite are here to help brands produce, assess and optimize visual assets at any scale, anywhere in the world."
Today, Meero has a very skilled team, especially in three domains:
Evolving with the Times
The road ahead looks pretty exciting for Meero. The company continues to evolve in a constantly moving and fascinating environment with much room for growth and innovation. The photography industry (and the image industry) still needs pioneers in technology to create the future of images, and Meero is leading from the front.
"For us, innovation means constantly adapting to your clients' needs and to the market. It's developing a new product or a new feature ahead of the market (and we've done that quite a few times at Meero!) Innovation is key to our model and stands on top of our three areas of expertise: AI, photography, and operations," mentioned Rebaud.
Meero keeps marching forward as it looks to develop new products to fulfill the vision that consists of helping brands from many industries produce, optimize and value visual assets at any scale, anywhere in the world.
Success Story
"Edgar, a Mexican photographer from our community hesitated a long time before quitting the comfort of his job at a company to become a photographer at 31 years old. He made this choice knowing that he would easily get access to regular missions with Meero. This reassured him and helped him make the move," recalled Benaud.
"Today, his missions with Meero allow him to work on his personal project: documenting the traditions and cultures of Mexico by explaining their origins." – Thomas Rebaud, Founder and CEO of Meero
Thomas Rebaud | Founder & CEO
Thomas Rebaud founded Meero at 28, driven by the desire to simplify the life of creative people and enable them to fully devote their time to their passion: art and creation.
It all started in 2007, when he joined EMLyon Business School, one of the top French business schools. Still a student, he was the president of the junior branch of the World Entrepreneurship Forum, an association present in fifteen countries that develops entrepreneurship as a vector for growth and employment. Freshly graduated, he founded his first company – an interest-free loans online benchmarking tool, which worked well, but did not take off. He then founded Diji, an innovative and agile IT consulting and engineering company. Diji's growing activities in the tech world led him to discover and understand the professional photography market. Thomas immediately saw the world of opportunities in this exciting market: Meero was born.
