We interviewed J. Thomas Graham, Founder/CEO of Life Imaging Fla, to know more about his vision that brought about the establishment of Life Imaging. He also talked about the importance of preventive medicine in this interview. Read on for the excerpts from the interview.

Q. Tell us the backstory that led to the establishment of Life Imaging Fla. What was the inspiration that got the company started?

As the owner of Life imaging, I had experienced first-hand the devastation of losing a family member and friends to the two deadliest diseases known to the mankind –heart disease and cancer. I lost both of my parents to cancer. And heart diseases kill more people than all cancers combined.

The problem with modern medicine is it is reactive. In other words, normally someone does not get a CT scan until something is wrong and the doctor wants to take a look inside of the body, at an organ or something that is wrong. The problem with this reactive approach to medicine is that inevitably many times it is just too late. Also, the reason preventive approach is not done is that insurance does not pay for most preventive screening.

We have developed a model in which it is affordable for everyone. We use the state-of-the-art low dose CT scanners for preventive screening. It is non-invasive and only takes a few minutes; there are no dyes or contrast needed. We can find the earliest signs of Coronary Artery disease (Heart Disease) with 98% accuracy. We can tell how much blockage there is where it is. We can find any aneurism and other problems in and around the Heart. Heart disease is actually preventable.

We also do full-body cancer screening. We can find some cancers as early as a decade ahead of the symptoms. We can find cancer the size of a grain of rice. We literally save lives on a regular basis. Early detection absolutely saves lives.

Q. What makes your services relevant in today’s age?

We are targeting the baby boomer generation, basically people from 45 -75 years of age. These are supposed to be the golden years. The problem is that these are the years in which disease creeps in on us. By providing an affordable way of knowing a way of staying ahead of the two deadliest diseases, we are helping save lives. It’s really a matter of making people aware that this is even available and affordable to them.

Q. Have there been any setbacks in your journey so far?

No setbacks to date. We have already screened over 400 people in the first 60 days or so since we opened our flagship clinic in South Florida. And we have literally saved several lives finding asymptomatic deadly issues with our preventative scanning in just these first 2 months or so. This is why we do what we do.

Q. How do you help detect diseases up to a decade before the symptoms show up?

By using the state-of-the-art low dose GE CT Scanner in a preventive fashion.

Q. How did you make sure that your services are affordable?

We have developed a research relationship as well as bundling scans over 3,5,7 and up to 10 years to make it affordable.

By providing the screenings using state-of-the-art low dose CT scans in a preventive fashion, we help keep people ahead of deadly diseases. Early detection absolutely saves lives.

Q. What makes you unique in your space?

We are totally unique and proprietary with our approach to preventive scanning and we have made it affordable for everyone.

Q. Tell us about your Low Dose GE CT Scanner.

Our scanner is a state of the art General Electric low dose CT scanner and has the latest low dose radiation software. They have developed the scanner over the past 25-30 years so the radiation is a nonissue now.

Q. How has the pandemic affected the company? How did you help out during the past year or so? Tell us about the innovation.

We have had to work around the pandemic during the shutdown. We have also learned as most Americans that we need to take care of ourselves, take control of our own good health. You no longer have to be statistic.

Q. What is your vision for the future? Do you have anything new and ready for launch?

We have already launched and are up and operating in South Florida. We will be looking at other cities in the near future and possibly around the world. This needs to be available for everyone everywhere.
