Skype Translator Bridges the Communication Gap

Skype Translator Bridges the Communication Gap
The Silicon Review
26 October, 2015

Language translators have been around for the past couple of years the most famous being Google Translate. It helps translate a language to another one and is mostly text based.

Microsoft has now come up with a voice based translator called the Skype translator. Based on your input, it translates the language spoken to another one. This enables people speaking different languages to communicate easily with each other without any barrier. A person who speaks French can speak with a person who speaks Mandarin. You don’t have to know the other language at all; just use the software and start talking.

The software currently supports English, Spanish, French, German, Italian and Mandarin. More languages are going to be added soon according to Microsoft. The software is still in preview mode and is available only in Windows 8.1 and Windows 10.

If Microsoft is able to launch a final polished product soon, it would become the universal translator that levels the language barriers of the world.
