Amazon’s Web Services Outage Created Waves on Internet

The wide internet uses recently experienced issues getting around the web because of an outage that has affected Amazon Web Services, the platform owned by  Amazon has many websites rely on to keep their pages buzzing.

The e-commerce giant ‘Amazon’ also confirmed that it was experiencing a "high error rate" in one of its regional data centers in northern Virginia on Tuesday afternoon. 

 Posting on to the AWS’ status page the company confirmed that the outage was also "impacting applications and services dependent on S3," the company's popular cloud-based storage platform.

Service that got largely affected with the recent outage are Slack, Medium and. In addition, few sites whose whole reason is to check whether other sites are online also seemed to have been taken down by the incident.

"This afternoon, CEOs and CIOs are asking: 'What do we have in the cloud? Is it available? What do we do?'" said Bill Wohl, a spokesman for Commvault, a data backup and Protection Company. "Not knowing is a risk to business, and time is of the essence." Meanwhile, around 5pm, the company on AWS page announced that they have certainly resolved the issues.

"The Amazon S3 service is operating normally," the company said on its status page, while it did not give particulars on the reason of the outage.

The AWS' data centers in northern Virginia may be among the service's oldest, and they are situated there as that particular area has become a chief center for Web traffic as the data passes back and forth on its way to computers or smartphones. The AWS itself has become a core piece of the Internet's fundamental infrastructure.
