Google Releases New Cloud Services Platform: To Cut Cost of Hybrid

Google Releases New Cloud Services Platform: To Cut Cost of Hybrid
The Silicon Review
26 July, 2018

Google has launched a new cloud services platform – Google Next – to fill a gap in its hybrid cloud services portfolio. It was announced on Tuesday.

Google Next will enable IT resources; including on-premises and GCP resources to be organized into a regular development, management, and controlled paradigm. The platform is designed to overcome tradeoffs such as security and agility.

The cloud platform is packed with Google’s on premise Kubernetes Engine and its managed Kubernetes environment. And, its Istio, open source platform, will help organizations to cut down on the increasing administration costs and discover, connect and manage various Kubernetes environments from within a single interface.

“Kubernetes only solves part of the problem, because the complexity remains at higher levels, especially in service management – how containerized services talk to each other, how they're authenticated, how they can discover and use each other to build applications,” said Urs Holzle, VP, Google cloud’s technical infrastructure.

According to Google, both Istio and Kubernetes will help the users to utilize their multi-cloud environments under a single and consistent policy.
