Ford unveils new EV Transit Van for Europe

Ford unveils new EV Transit Van for Europe
The Silicon Review
03 April, 2019

Ford, one of the world class automakers, intends to launch an electric Transit commercial van in Europe by 2021. The announcement was made public at the company’s Go Further event on Tuesday. Along with the new EV commercial van, the company unveiled more than a dozen other electrified consumer-facing models that will be rolled out exclusively for the European region.

The new launch could boost the automaker’s broader plan to electrify its global portfolio.

The company didn’t reveal much information about the EV commercial van. And for now, the new vehicle is only planned for Europe. Ford’s sale record in Europe is pretty good as 380,900 commercial vehicles were sold last year.

Ford stated that the EV commercial van will be manufactured for businesses. The vehicle will act as a load carrier with zero-emission driving capability for urban applications.

It sounds like the new vehicle might have a mid-200-mile range. The vehicle will be available in various body types.

Coming to other announcements, the company unveiled the Tourneo Custom Plug-In Hybrid. The vehicle can accommodate eight people and will be commercially available this year itself.

A new app was also showcased at the event. Dubbed as FordPass, the app is designed for smaller firms and drivers to help them to boost their productivity. The app will be commercially available this year itself.

The company also announced a new concept called Transit Smart Energy Concept; a 10 seaterminibus. The trail of the concept will begin later this year.
