Samsung Electronics Rolls Out new Solution for Short range IoT Devices
The Silicon Review
07 May, 2019

Samsung Electronics has unveiled a new solution for IoT devices. The announcement was made public on Tuesday. Dubbed asi T100, the solution is exclusively developed for short-range communication devices.

The company’s has also launched solutions for long-range Narrow-Band (NB) communications earlier.

The new solution launch has paved the way for the company to cover a range of connectivity for IoT devices which are available on the market today.

The new solution is fuelled bya power-efficient 28-nanometer (nm) process technology. The optimized solution can be used to automate and control the environments within homes or business for short-range IoT devices. Short range devices can control application such as home security, smart lighting, fitness wearable’s, monitoring, fire and gas detectors, and temperature controls.

Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) 5.0, short-range communication protocols, and Zigbee 3.0 are also supported by Exynos i T100.

The solution integrates the processor and the memory within a small single-chip package. By looking at the features, the solution will help device makers across the globe to carry out their product development process in an efficient and seamless manner.

In terms of security, the new solution is fuelled by a separate Security Sub-System (SSS) hardware block. The security feature will allow data encryption to take place. The other security feature, which creates a unique identity for the chipsets is called Physical Unclonable Function (PUF) .All the security features are good enough to prevent a data breach or hacking for wireless IoT devices especially that automate and control its environment.

At present, the new solution is under the process of sampling.
