Samsung introduces its range of smart home gadgets called SmartThings including camera, light bulb, and a smart plug. The company plans to expand its range of connected smart home appliances. TheSmartThings Smart Bulb, SmartThings Wi-Fi Smart plug, and SmartThings Cam are offered at $9.99, $17.99, and $89.99 respectively. The newly launched gadgets work within the SmartThings ecosystem and are available for purchase.
These devices, intending to fill some gaps in the SmartThings lineup, are ideal for smart home beginners. While the smart bulb relies on the hub for connectivity and uses Zigbee 3.0, the other two products can be used with or without a SmartThings hub. All these gadgets are compatible with Google Assistant, Amazon Alexa, and Samsung’s own Bixby voice assistants.
The smart camera by Samsung offers full HD video with two-way audio,IR for night vision,HDR, a 145-degree field of view, etc. It is also cheaper than Amazon’s Cloud Cam or Nest Cam. It provides 24-hour cloud storage backup for up to four cameras at no additional costs. However, an option for 30-day backup for up to eight cameras can also be availed at $7.99 a month or $79.99 a year.
SmartThings Smart Plug is similar to Amazon’s Smart Plug but it is cheaper in comparison to it. The Smart Plug is small enough to fit two of the same ones on a single outlet.
The Smart Bulb is a white-colored 9-watt smart LED light bulb which provides 806 lumens of output. Its light can be adjusted according to the mood, but unlike other more expensive smart bulbs, it doesn’t offer any other color and shades options.
