Nintendo Unveils a Lite Version of Nintendo Switch

Nintendo Unveils a Lite Version of Nintendo Switch
The Silicon Review
15 July, 2019

Japanese video game manufacturer, Nintendo, has announced a lite version for Nintendo Switch. The new model is priced less than the original one, butit’s packed some disadvantages.

The main drawbacks of the Nintendo Switch Lite are- it can’t be paired with a TV, and there is no dock or port for TV connection. But, all the features were encompassed in the original version of the device. The Joy-Con controller isn’t detachable; for instance, users won’t be able to keep the device on a table and keep the controller on their hands.

But, users can make a separate purchase for Joy-Con controllers or the more traditional Nintendo Switch Pro controller. Charging might be a problem because the device has to be powered without the Switch.

Users will be able to play the same games which they had been playing on the Switch. The games which support handheld mode will work on the device without any problem.

In terms of the size, the lite version is a bit smaller and lighter than the older one (0.61 lbs versus 0.88 lbs); featuring a 5.5-inch touchscreen. According to the company, the battery life of the device is quite good; the supporting gameplay upto 3 to 7 hours. While testing, the device streamed the game called Zelda: Breath of the Wild for 4 hours.

The company will launch the Nintendo Switch Lite in September this year. The device will be available in different colors— turquoise, grey, and yellow.
