Walmart Canada re-opened the flagship location in Mississauga, Ontario

The redesign includes a boutique-style apparel area with updated lighting and digital screens, expanded fresh grocery and global foods sections and a new hot meal counter

Walmart Canada has announced the grand reopening of its Square One Supercentre in Mississauga, Ontario, marking it as the flagship location with a substantial capital investment. This Mississauga store is Walmart Canada’s largest, spanning 223,000 square feet. It introduces an "endless aisle" concept, refreshed signage, updated lighting, and digital wayfinding to enhance the retail experience for shoppers. Among its new offerings is an in-store pickup kiosk catering to customers without vehicles, along with a showroom-style shopping experience for large items where customers can utilize QR codes for later pickup of their purchases. Additionally, Walmart Canada is piloting its inaugural SmartShelf system at this site, a patent-pending technology aimed at optimizing merchandise management through radio-frequency identification.

The Square One store also debuts Canada’s inaugural Walmart Health Hub, featuring a pharmacy, vision center, and medical clinic, complemented by a digital pharmacy app. Originally opened in 1994 as one of Walmart Canada’s foundational 122 stores, the Square One Walmart Supercentre transitioned into a supercentre format in 2011. Its redesign encompasses a boutique-style apparel section, expanded fresh grocery and global food offerings, and a new hot meal counter. The electronics department has been revamped to include dedicated spaces for top brands like Apple, Samsung, and Google.
