Interac debit payments have been launched in Canada’s Walmart for ecommerce purchases

Interac and Walmart Canada have jointly announced that customers of Walmart Canada can now make their payments through Interac Debit on Walmart Canada mobile app and Walmart.ca. Jennifer Jones, Walmart Canada’s vice-president, Financial Products, Services, and Payments, has stated that the company understands that the customers want seamless options for a better shopping experience. Walmart is very proud of the same. She furthermore stated that by adding Interac Debit in the mix for all in-app and online purchases, Walmart’s plan was to expand its service offerings and provide all consumers in Canada with a more inclusive and consistent shopping experience.

As of now, there is no clear news on whether the latest function is or will be made available to Android users. VP of Commercial Partnerships, Interac, Adeel Syed, has stated that the Canadians were looking for new options to use debit in online channels, and now they have that feature in one of the largest retail chains in Canada. Both the involved companies have stated that they have also collaborated in digital media to promote the new payment option and increase awareness.
