Reon Pocket—Sony’s...The Japanese conglomerate Sony has come up with an innovative device to beat the heatwave. Called Reon Pocket, it’s a small cooling device which acts as a portable AC. The project is crowdfunded and is live on Sony’s website. Reon Pocket has dual functionality; it can cool during summer days as well as warm you up during winters.
Reon Pocket prices start at $117 and work using the “Peltier effect,” which involves using a small electrical current to allow it to either absorb or give out heat. The user can control it using the app. The company claims that the device can cool you by 13 degree Celsius and can heat you by 8 degree Celsius. Further, with a single charge, one can get 24 hours of usage and Sony plans to introduce an automatic mode in the future.
The device is about the size of a card wallet and it slides into the back of a specially designed shirt at the neck. But the bad news is that the device is scheduled to be shipped on March 2020. Meaning it's little too late to combat the heatwave.
