SpaceX Intends to Launch Starship by 2021
The Silicon Review
01 July, 2019

SpaceX aims to launch its Starship rocket commercially by 2021. After completing its latest Falcon Heavy mission, the world-class aerospace company is now betting on a commercial launch of its next-generation, fully reusable rocket, one of the company’s top levels executive said.

The move by the company is a step towards replacing the current Falcon heavy reusable rockets with the new Starship fully reusable rockets. After the successful development of Starship, the company will roll out a system to send the ‘Super Heavy’ booster into orbit.

The rocket would be having more lifting capacity than the existing Falcon Heavy rocket. Coming to its lifting capacity, Starship will be able to deliver 20 metric tons to geostationary transfer orbit, which is equivalent to more than 100 tons to low-Earth orbit.

Starship could be also the spacecraft for SpaceX to carry out its running crewed missions to Mars.

According to SpaceNews, the California-based companyis currently in talks with three telecom companies in order to select the first mission for the new spacecraft. Currently, the development of Starship is taking place in two different SpaceX facilities in Florida and Texas. Before using the next-gen launch system, there will be several test flights.

The company’s specialty sets them apart from other aerospace companies, and often they end up in producing robust and unique rockets from both efforts that complement or enhance whatever the final product is.
