CorPower and Simply Blue Energy forms a collaboration to tap into wave energy
The Silicon Review
30 October, 2019

In the UK, a new Strategic Collaboration Agreement was signed between CorPower Ocean and Simply Blue Energy to unlock the potential of wave energy. The new collaboration aims to develop wave energy projects on the coasts of the UK and Ireland. Simply Blue is anticipated to start production and export of electricity by 2024, and CorPower will provide the company with required wave energy techs. Sam Roch-Perks, CEO of Simply Blue, stated that the experience of working with CorPower’s team for two and a half years has been convincing enough, and the required technology will be ready by the agreed timeframes.

Over 100 companies were interviewed in the past eight months to scan for potential technologies that can be viable for commercial use. Both companies are keenly studying past projects to learn about the pitfalls they encountered because this will help the companies in the future to address the challenges related to wave technologies. Scaling this project is a time-consuming process due to political processes involved, and the UK has been very transparent to get the required information. Commercial wave energy will be a successful venture only if the work is done as an industry, and the financial side of energy projects also requires attention.
