BYOD to be incorporated into s...BYOD or Bring Your Own Device is a trend that is catching on amongst many corporate and other organisations. It is a practice that is showing an increase in productivity. In a recent announcement CPSB announced that it wants to incorporate this trend into educational institutions in the Louisiana area. Sam Houston High School was the first to catch on the trend and lot of positive changes like decrease in tardiness and absence, less classroom disturbances, increase in productivity, etc. have been observed by the administration.
“It says the Calcasieu Parish School Board recognizes the importance of incorporating current technology tools including new methods of electronic communication in the classroom to enhance student learning. It further recognizes the importance of students, faculty, and parents engaging, learning, collaborating and sharing in digital environments a part of the 21st-century learning. The Calcasieu Parish School Board strives to ensure that electronic communication tools incorporated into the school curriculum are used responsibly and safely,” said Patrick Fontenot, the principal of Iowa High School.
Iowa, Westlake, Sulphur, Barbe, LaGrange, DeQuincy and other high schools in the area are planning on following suit and incorporating the Bring Your Own Device agenda into their rules. The success of the program at Sam Houston had boosted their confidence to try out this new idea.
