Growing supply chain issues have forced McDonald’s in UK to use less tomatoes in their dishes

The supply chain in the UK took a major hit due to various external factors like Covid, Brexit, and the Russian invasion of Ukraine

Popular fast-food chain McDonald’s has recently stated that it is rationing tomatoes in its UK restaurants. This is mainly due to the shortage caused by supply chain issues. The shortage has not affected the company’s menu as a whole, but the number of tomatoes used in its dishes is expected to be cut. Two best-selling dishes, Big Tasty and Big Tasty with Bacon, will now have just one slice of tomatoes instead of two. The supply chain in the UK took a major hit due to various external factors like Covid, Brexit, and the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

All the factors have together affected even the mighty brand like McDonald’s, which proves how hard it is to source products. A spokesperson from McDonald’s has revealed that the shortage of tomatoes is true, and it was a nationwide problem. The spokesperson also conveyed her sincere apologies for the inconvenience. The company is looking for ways to solve the issue soon. This was not the first time the fast-food giant had to deal with shortage because last month, the company had to pull out one of its quick-moving dishes Big Mac Chicken because of high demand and less supply. The ongoing pandemic and war have drastically affected the markets in the UK.
