Google foldable phone, expected to be launched next year

The patent application contains the design of the foldable phone by Google

Google has been working on launching its foldable phone for quite a while now; it was announced as early as 2019. A report last year hinted that the device would include a 12.2MP primary camera. The device is expected to be named Pixel Fold or Pixel Notepad, and the patent application has been found in the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) portal. The patent was reportedly filed in June 2021 and has been published now.

The patent application contains the design of the foldable phone by Google. Design-wise it is identical to the Galaxy Z Fold; however, the Google model is expected to have considerably thicker bezels. The device will fold in half and feature an external display and is expected to have a crease similar to the one found in the newly launched Galaxy Z Fold 4. The Pixel phone’s selfie camera will reportedly be placed in its bezels, unlike the Galaxy Z Fold 4. The device is most likely to be launched next year, and the design and specifications of the device may change by then. The patent application is more than a year old, and a lot may have changed by then.
